Oh boy, oh boy, oh BOY!
Hot damn, is this guy a looker! Dark hair, dark eyes, tanned skin. Yummy!
Human/Median Form: He's a large man, standing at 6'5" and weighing in at nearly 250 pounds of pure, raw muscle. He's not overly muscled to the point of being considered bulky, but you definately don't want to tussle with this guy. He looks very capable of snapping someone's neck with a simple, deft twist of his hands. He has a noble appearance, a well shaped, prominent jawbone, high cheek bones. It's easy to see that he is a dragon of fine breeding, though due to him being a Wind Dragon, it isn't too much of a surprise.
His hair is shaggy, of a deep brown. During summer months, the sunshine brings out blond highlights and when placed next to his cousin Kaotanya, the resemblance between them is uncanny. His eyes in human form are of a brilliant, breath taking green.
Unlike Kaotanya, his human form is subdued, not hinting at his royal heritage at all. He's plain looking, even his eye color as breath taking as it is, isn't 'unworldly. He looks normal...except for his sharp canines, that borderline fangs, and his sharpened ear tips, traits of his Danthos House.
Dragon Form: Not one to disappoint, Liam's dragon form is just as massive as his human form and even more impressive. The first thing many notice is that he is not your average dragon. Rather, Liam is a Wyvern. He has two highly muscled hind legs that allow him to walk upright and two wings that he can also use to walk on when creeping about. He can walk bipedal and quadrupedal should he choose so.
His body itself isn't that overly huge, just slightly above average height and length for his family. Wyverns themselves originated as a smaller species, but to grow into the Sylvano role as body guards to the Great Queens, the Sylvano Wyverns nearly tripled in size. As such, Liam stands at 30 feet tall at his shoulder. His long neck, when standing upon two legs, brings his final full height to nearly 40 feet. His body is long and slender like the snakes his kind was said to have originated from. His total length is nearly 60 feet, his tail making up more than half that. His wingspan though, is what is most formidable about him. At nearly 80 feet in length, Liam is obviously a dragon made for long, extended flight. He is fast, but only in a straight line. He can dive and rise very fast as his shoulder and arm muscles are massive, allowing him increased power with each wing stroke. But he cannot turn on a dime like his charge, Kaotanya can.
Liam is of a royal Wind house, though among the Danthos House, the Sylvano Family's roles in the post have almost always been as personal body guards for their smaller, more vulnerable cousins of the Sordia Family. It is tradition for a body guard and his/her charge to grow up together. Due to his royal blood, Liam is not of traditional Wind Dragon coloring. Since Liam was handpicked from Kaotanya's birth as her personal body guard, Liam's dragon form is suited to compliment her's. Just as Kao's twilight theme is suited for dark night time flight, Liam's scales are also dark. His over all coloring is drab, with varying shades of charcoal, lighting among his belly, dark along his top. His markings though more than make up for his drab color. He has dark gray, nearly black, irregular stripes along his top side and along the upper portion of his legs. He has more stripes of a dark blue coloring that intermingle with his charcoal stripes, but also cling to his wing arms and under belly.
His has a line of spikes from his forehead to his tail that he can raise and lower in response to danger. His head is distinctly bird shape, narrow and streamline, with a sharp horn on his nose. There is a streak of blue that streaks up his muzzle and surrounds his eyes, which are a solid, pupiless emerald. There are two slightly curved horns above his eyes and horns lining his jaw. The horns on his head are made of an incredibly hard and dense bone-like material. He has long, furry ears that are protected by the crest of bony horns along his jaw. He has another crest of spines along his throat that he can extend and flare to intimidate, much like a frilled lizard. They also act as natural armor for his throat. Except for his finely scaled head, Liam is covered in fur, though his skin beneath is not easily penetrable. His tail ends with spikes like that of a stegosaurus tail. Liam has four fangs, two upper and two lower, that are a bright, neon aqua. It is a warning of the venom they contain. Along Liam's left arm is a wing gold wing cuff with a large emerald gem set in it, the gem of his naming Family, the Sylvano. Along the bottom edges of Liam's wing membranes are a bright shock of blue that bleed into the black of the surrounding membrane, like a fading sunset; the time when twilight fades and night rules.
Liam has several secondary powers that allowed him to become Kaotanya's ONLY personal guard and to make up for his obvious lack of speed.
Metaloid Form - when Liam is angry enough and in berserker mode, his whole body turns to metal. It slows him down greatly, but his defense is unbeatable from the outside. His body does not show a distinct metal shine, so the only indicator that something is amiss is the lack of his normal fur. It's actually his fur hardening and flattening along his skin in response to his heightened state of instability. It was originally used to keep himself from causing perminant damage to himself when his first fits of berserker rage were completely impossible to control. Now he has managed some control of the fits. The only way past this defense to cause damage from the inside, such as shooting something down his mouth, or the weak spot at the base of his skull past his numerous horns.
Electricity Manipulation - by definition, the ability to control, generate, and/or absorb electricity. Liam has the ability to control to a degree and generate his own electricity, most commonly seen in the form of electric breath. He super heats the air to form a path for the electricity to follow and ignites it by creating the initial spark. To create the initial spark, he simply clucks the tip of his tongue against the positively charged surface of his palate to create super-charges ions he can control. This is the only way to create massive amount of lightning with the ability of complete control. These are normally a short, powerful blasts. He can create small amounts by using his Wind Manipulation to create opposing charged vortexes to cause a spark that he can manipulate. He can make these small chain reactions last much longer due to his concentration being on one lighting bolt rather than many. He can influence the path natural lighting as well as other forms, such as electricity generated by other beings. In his normal form, he can absorb a certain number of voltage and send the excess running along his spines. He can consciously control the movement of blood around his heart for short periods, so if struck by lighting, he can divert the blood from his heart to stop any permanent damage from occurring. In his metaloid form, he avoids using electricity at all due to himself being a large electrical inductor.
Poison Generation: He has poison available in the form of his fangs, taken from his supposed snake ancestors. It takes a lot of energy and time to generate poison, so Liam tries to use as little of it as possible. He has stores of it circulating in the glands along his snout, but it can take several weeks to regenerate one pint. His venom is a hemotoxin, which prevents the blood from clotting. It's toxicity isn't all that high but it's very fast acting for a hemotoxin. So if hit once and the wound is properly bandaged, one can get away with their lives in tack after losing a large amount of blood. But if you get hit a second time or are injected with a dosage larger than his normal amount, you run the risk of greater symptoms. Three strikes and you're out. Three consecutive strikes within one hour and you will most certainly die. The venom piles and multiples upon numerous injections. Third injection will often cause mass internal bleeding and bleeding from the eyes, mouth, and even pores. Liam is often said to have caused the bubonic plague.
Light Manipulation: Liam can absorb light particles, making it so the sun won't reflect off his hide. In essence this can make him disappear from view. He can also bend light particles away from him, which also acts as a camoflague of sorts. He doesn't disappear completly, his light manipulation isn't that advanced, but he can manipulate the light of his surroundings so his movements appear nothing more than the wind blowing. As Liam is good as bending lighting, he can bend several light beams to create a concentrated light beam that can blind someone and allow for quick escape.
Sonic Scream: Liam is able to generate high pitch, loud noises from his vocal chords. Over use of this power can lead to the inability to speak for long period of time. It's one of his more annoying powers, as it's his largest double-edge sword. His lighting he can use a good amount of the time, but his sonic scream has a cap before he starts damaging his vocal chords. He can couple his natrual Wind affinity with his Sonic Scream to direct it to a certain enemy. He can also use his Wind affinity to broaden and narrow his scream, making it more deadly. Broader is easier to see coming, but harder to dodge due to its massive range. Narrow is harder to see, easier to dodge. Liam can pinpoint his scream to the width of a pencil, but it's harder to control. Even if he misses his target, it can still affect them if the scream hits close.
Liam is easy to understand to most. He's friendly and open enough when you first meet him. He's easy going, often letting others make the first move and going from there. He's a patient individual and rather peaceful. A common trait among Wind Dragons. He is laid back, though; not much phases him and he's isn't one to really be 'playful' like Wind Dragons are said to be. He's a serious dragon. He's kind and gentlemanly, but even with all these good traits, Liam is not one to hide the fact that he is cold and withdrawn. He is not afraid to state when someone is pushing things to far with him. He can be incredibly sneaky when he wants to be, but often chooses not to. He isn't an aggressive, violent individual, but he's not exactly a peace keeper. It's all an act on the surface; he's appears as normal as possible, but doesn't make any personal attachments. Anyone who tries to get close to him even against his warnings will quickly be put in their place.History:
Liam is smart, not surprising of his royal heritage; he's got a sharp mind and sharp eyes. His quiet nature is actually just him being attentive and alert. Not much passes his eyes. Most of his alertness though stems from the purpose he was born for. Ever since the Sylvano and Sordia Families rose to power, the Sylvano adopted the role of protectors. As such, Liam is the sole body guard of Kaotanya. He was there for her hatching and grew up with her. Liam is forever loyal to his queen, his cousin, his other half. Liam was born into a family of love, don't misunderstand him. He was not forced into this role as a guardian; he chose it.
Liam suffers from several disorders due to his strict training and upbringing as a body guard. Some of these traits are even said to have been bred into the Sylvano Family to promote further bonding between guardian and charge.
Liam suffers from Schizoid Personality Disorder, in which he lacks any real desire to form emotional ties. He has no strong desire to go out and make friends; he likes to lead a relatively solitary lifestyle. His Schizoid Personality Disorder is rather mild compared to some of his family; he does not desire to be completely alone, but he does not desire to be surrounded by other at the same time. Just because he has no desire though, does not mean he can't function completely alone or in a large crowd. This disorder allows him to fully focus on his relationship with his charge and leaves him with no desire to do anything otherwise.
Liam suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder, informally known as multiple personality disorder. It's a mild case, though. He often refers to his other side as the Berserker. He can essentially talk and interact with his Berserker, but they two share most of Liam's ideals and goals. The Berserker is basically a fail safe in case Liam himself cannot properly protect his charge.
The official name for Liam's Berserker moments is Sudden Onset Aggression (SOA), or Rage Syndrome. It's a disorder most often seen in dogs, where the dog suddenly acts aggressive with no obvious reason. Once it passes, the dog is seemingly calm and relaxed, with almost no knowledge of ever having acted aggressive. For Liam, his SOA comes into play when Liam himself is incapable of completing his duty as Kaotanya's body guard. He willingly allows the Berserker to take control because he physically cannot complete his duties. If anything happens to Kaotanya that he could have stopped, the event triggers a remote part of his brain that makes him become overprotective to the point of possession. Due to Liam's relatively control and understanding of his Berkserker mode, his often acts more to physical threats to his Kaotanya.
Liam can also access his Berserker mode in relative times of stress; Kaotanya does not have to be in danger for Liam to go Berserker. He could be in a battle for himself and failing, then call upon his Ultimate Defense of his Metal Body, or his Berserker mode. When in Berserker Mode, Liam looses a lot of his mental capacities. He is easily angered and acts on instinct and impulse. He can differentiate between friend and foe, but it is increasingly harder to do that the longer he stays in Berserker Mode. He loses a substantial amount of his ability to speak and think quickly. Its best to just simply stay out of his way when he's in Berserker Mode cause no one knows what really triggers the anger that makes him act for no reason.
Not too much stands out in Liam's history. But then again, one has to be willing to share it for someone to decide if there is anything truly worth mentioning.
Family/Clan Dynamics :: A clan known for its exceptional warrior, they are one of the only Wind Dragon Families to be considered barbaric, in the since they are not openly passive about peace. They are willing to fight should the need rise, but don't openly seek out battles. The Clan itself is part of the Royal Danthos House, though their status as a Warrior Clan makes them of a lower ranking. The Sylvano Clan runs a bit like a fuedal system. Females play lesser, more domestic roles, with males the main bulk of the family, or clan. This is not to say should a female wish to take upon a male role of warrior, she cannot. It is encourage for anyone strong enough to go through with Clan Training to rise up to Warrior status. There is a matriarch pair who serve as the clan heads and public faces. There are also two other dragons who serve along side the Clan Heads as part of the council. The Clan's Warrior are split; if one shows particular promise as a Warrior during training, they are then tested on Guardian potential. Guardians are the exceptional dragons, typically Wyverns, that go on to become personal body guards or even mates, to the Sylvano partner clan, the Sordia Family.
Childhood :: Liam's childhood is pretty normal, for his family that is. He, along with his two clutchmates (a sister Tyrellia and brother Nikolus), were conceived out of love and grew up loved by his parents, uncles, and aunts. Contrary to popular belief, not all Sylvano Family dragons are Wyverns. Most Guardian are Wyverns since they tend to carry the stronger protection genes (SOA and DID) more readily and easily. Liam showed promise from a very age, keen on pleasing his parents and protecting his younger siblings. His older siblings all had their own lives to worry about. None of Liam's siblings before him had managed to complete Guardian training and while his parents didn't encourage him to push through the grueling regimen, Liam did it anyway. Liam graduated top of his class in his Warrior training and pushed onto Guardian Training at a much younger age than most.
Warrior Training :: A Warrior dragon is typically entering their Adolescence when they graduate. After they graduate Warrior Training, they are grouped into two-dragon squads and assigned a teacher to finish off the three-dragon squad. With this squad, the graduates undergo field training, which can take place anywhere from a few months to years. Once approved for full Warrior status, the dragons are then assigned permanent thee-dragon squads. In some cases, the original squad of teacher and students remains the same. It is during this on field training dragons are tested for Guardian potential. After receiving Warrior status, some of those promising Warriors go on to enter Guardian Training around the later years of adolescence. Guardian Training is strictly volunteer, though you have to meet certain parameters to be accepted. Tyrellia had volunteered before she had even finished her warrior training and was a rising star in both fields; Liam was more content to just simply follow the path behind the one she forged. Females naturally mature faster than males, so Tyrellia was better in most marks than Liam.
Guardian Training:: Normally when entering Guardian training, which takes place in Sordia Clan grounds, the candidates are integrated with everyday Sordia society. Half way through training, a Guardian is assigned a charge to shadow. If everything works out, the charge they are assigned to remains their permanent charge. They grow up together to promote heavily bonding and bring out the hidden, dormant talents of the Sylvano Guardians. Some guardians go on to remain with their charges until death claims both, some protect their charge until the charge dismisses the guardian. Some pairs even go on to mate. The point is, the Guardian-Charge relationship is supposed said to be unbreakable by any normal means. Even if Charge and Guardian go separate ways, the Guardian and Charge still remain close, just under different roles. Typically a Guardian does not take on a new charge unless specifically requested to do so. Liam's young age at which he began Guardian Training presented a problem. There were no recent Sordia births or available Sordia of any age that Liam was compatible with. Liam waited for a long time, taking his time with his classes and training before a suitable match was found. Because of this time period in which Liam had no one to shadow, Guardian and Charge did not go through a shadowing period.
Etheria & Tyrellia:: Liam's charge was a young, ambitious female named Etheria, who Liam found out was Nikolus's best friend. She was of the one of the lowest branches of the Sordia Family, but even then, she displayed no obvious signs of being in a royal family, physically and mentally. She was solid white, no sign of the exotic colors in her Sordia Family. She was brash, loud, obnoxious, and not afraid to speak her mind. There were no signs of a young maiden who walked among the courts. Nope, Etheria wanted none of this; her mother did. She most certainly did not want a Guardian either; she preferred to be a wild child and run through the forests with Nikolus. She fought with Liam constantly. Their relationship as Guardian and Charge was not a pleasant one; they were far from compatible, but they never showed any real desire to request a new partner. Tyrellia had a much easier charge, a male who not actually from the Sordia family, but a different family, the Heric Family. Once Liam had caught up with her, she took a step back and let her brother have the lime light. She was worried about other things now, like falling in love with her charge. Tyrellia never finished guardian training, though. A tragic accident left her flight crippled and her family devastated. Feeling responsible for the accident, for she had been protecting Liam, their sick brother Nikolus, and little Etheria from a Baset, Liam stepped forward, telling her he'd pull enough weight for her and him. Time passed and Etheria took interest in the Sylvano Warrior ways. Liam, naive and young, was an eager teacher now that they finally had something in common; he was also eager to get back on his brother's good graces, who was angry of Liam's way of handling Etheria. It was forbidden for an outsider to learn Sylvano secrets, but it didn't stop Etheria from learning nor Liam from teaching. Things quickly spiraled out of control. Liam quickly realized why outsiders were forbidden from Sylvano secrets. He told Etheria to give up her search, but Etheria grew angry that Liam was being 'selfish.' Liam resorted to begging and even threatening her. It did nothing. Etheria stumbled upon a well kept secret and the power of the technique consumed her. It morphed her into a monster. Etheria was dead the moment she broke the seal, her mind quickly conquered by the beast. Liam was forced to make the ultimate sacrifice. He killed Etheria himself to make sure it was quick and clean. He could no bare for another to end his Charge's life.
The Aftermath :: Liam never showed much of his Sudden Onset Aggression. It was there, it was always there. The Berserker was always there too, but he'd been dormant, only really showing his face when Etheria needed rough handling to keep her place. But slaying his lover brought everything out in untold volumes. Liam's mind was a wreck. His SOA became dangerous to even himself. Etheria's murder brought out abilities long dormant in the Sylvano Family. The Berserker became a more prominent figure, separate yet the same. Liam shed his fur for a metallic body and lightning rained from the heavens to be grasped and wielded with his powerful jaws. Etheria's desire for the power of the heavens, the secrets that had consumed her, were her gift to Liam for ending her torture. Liam was sent back home; he was not allowed to even take up Warrior status again. So Liam settled into a meager life as the son of the Clan Heads. He was the first guardian in centuries to have failed his charge so horribly and brought shame upon his family. He turned his anger and pain into fuel for rising through the ranks as not a Warrior or Guardian, but as Heir. Time passed and Liam was beginning to make it through each year a little easier. It would never be easy, but he had shamed his family enough. Eventually, he was granted light Warrior duties, mostly simple night time watches over the gates. Occasionally a family requested him for some deed and he responded. Everything no longer had value to him, he was distant to the world and himself, everything was a blur. His siblings had once pitied him for his obvious pain of Etheria's death and his sudden house arrest. But they grew to ignore him, like that annoying stain on the carpet you hide with a rug. They were annoyed with his constant pining and unreachable self. It was at this time, Liam really began to show dangerous signs of his Schizoid Personality Disorder. He no longer even desired to make bonds with his family, going to for as the even severe some family bonds. Nikolus was the one exception to this. Times were tough for them both and their relationship was greatly strained, but they helped each other when they could. Liam is forever indebted to Niko because of this, he helped Liam retain some of his sanity even when Liam didn't deserve it. Liam had killed his best friend after all.
A Queen Falls:: One night there was an emergency call for a Warrior at the High Court in the Hallelujah Mountains. Normally an Elite Warrior was sent or a retired Guardian, but none were available. Liam was sent instead, mostly because of his status as Sylvano heir, but also for his previous training. Liam arrived in time to see the Great Queen fall. His Sordia cousin had been her host and with a rage boiling his gut, he singed the corpse of the traitor with lightning bolt after lightning bolt until nothing remained but charred bones. He turned to his queen, bowing even as she drew her last breathes, blood bubbling from her lips. She snarled at him, in anger that she could not have dealt the final blow and that he saw her as she was now, weak and dying. Katswiri's seven-hundred seventy third life ended with a snarl and a spit of bloody mist as she growled at Liam. ' Save her. Don't let her fall.' To this day, he still isn't quite sure if it was Katswiri that spoke or the ties that bond her to her to the Gods. After the Queen's dying words, Liam was requested to live at the High Court. For years, he kept an eye out for the dragoness Katswiri had spoken of. Once he'd asked her, as she rose again in her seven hundred seventy-forth life, what she had meant. But the dragon was venomous and hateful. She had no desire to communicate with him and no memories of her most recent death. Liam was left to figure out the mystery on his own. Liam's new residence at the court left him out of touch with his brother Nikolus. For years, which honestly wasn't long in a dragon's life, Liam did not hear from his estranged brother. Until one day, his mother contacted him, stating after court elders forced her to strip Nikolus of his Sylvano name, he disappeared. There was no trace of him and as time passed, he was assumed dead. Liam was never the same after.
Kaotanya :: One night, while escorting a Sordia Lady to the High Keep in a thunderstorm, it happened. Dragoness Lady Selphi, his sister through marriage, was carrying one single egg. It would be her last. The egg began to quiver and shake. It was hatching. The caravan landed; a child being born in the sky was not a good idea, even for Wind Dragons. They were ambushed. Liam made quick work of the attackers, but Lady Selphi had been dealt a fatal blow. Lady Selphi's dying words were that Liam protect her daughter, Kaotanya Illiel. Lady Selphi gave up her family heirloom as proof for the pact they struck. Selphi pleaded Liam return to the keeping before more radars came. Liam took the cracking egg in his mouth and placed it upon the small hollow of his shoulders. He left his sister with a final good bye and took flight. He was just out of sight range when the egg finally broke. He stalled midflight, hovering, and craned his neck back to look at the newly hatched dragoness. The moment their eyes met, emerald meeting copper, Liam knew. The baby dragon was tiny, with the softest skin and brilliant colors. She chirped when she saw him, crawling towards his great face and rubbing her head against his scaled snout. Liam allowed her to climb upon his nose, chirping the whole time. He purred and ordered her to climb behind the crest of his horns to shelter herself from the rain. The baby dragon did as told without complaint and snuggled into the fur there, though she did peep her head out to let the wind caress her fluffy mane and face. Liam had no problems upon return to the High Court of sealing the deal as her Guardian. Katswiri, in all her great power, had known the bond and the words Liam spoke to be true. Liam was there for everything Kaotanya went through, though he never could bring himself to tell her of Etheria or her mother. Nikolus came back into his life and the three formed a strange family all their own. Kaotanya knew someone that her relationship with Liam was not the typical Guardian-Charge relationship. She knew Liam had been through a lot, but she knew she had a place in his heart.
