Morticia threw open the large veranda doors, set a tea set on the wicker table and perched delicately on the edge of the chair as she drank green tea from one of her cups. Madilynn should be coming by anytime and the angel was anxious to see the girl once again. Smiling, she finished the cup and poured another. Really she shouldn't drink so much but she couldn't help it. She needed to do something to keep her jitters to a minimum. She'd already had the cleaning staff clean all of the bedrooms twice and the linens run so that all of them were fresh. Morticia wanted the girl to be as comfortable as possible in staying there so she would allow her to choose her own room. There were plenty of rooms in the house besides the one that Morticia occupied. Each had it's own bathroom and walk in closet attached.
Sitting on the porch, Morticia couldn't think of anything else to do before the girl got here. There was food to buy but not knowing what Madi liked, Morticia would wait to make a list after the girl showed. Really if she'd had more time, Morticia would have had the rooms repainted as they hadn't seen a paint job in 15 to 20 years, but no one had lived in them either. It had been a very long time since this house had been occupied by boarders, but today the cycle began again and Morticia hoped beyond hope that Madi would be happy here.

She had graduated finally and was on her way to Morticia’s house. She still couldn’t believe the great deed this girl had done for her, and she barely knew her. Madi could be a crook coming to rob her house for all she knew. Of course, Madi would never do that, but still. She knew that she would never offer her house to a stranger. She was glad she met someone that would though.
Madi stopped when the house came into view, her jaw dropping open. The building in front of her was enormous in size but beautiful. Morticia hadn’t been kidding when she said there was plenty of room for Madi. She glanced down at her one suitcase, almost ashamed that her belongs all fit in one. With a size she headed towards the house, seeing Morticia sitting on the front porch waiting for her. Feeling a bit relieved that she wouldn’t have to awkwardly knock on any doors, because frankly she didn’t know which door to knock on. She smiled and picked up her pace, taking the steps one at a time. ”Hi! I’m here, with all of my crap,” she smiled brightly, feeling good to have somewhere to be.

If her wings had been showing, they would have fluttered as the girl came up the driveway, instead, Morticia merely stood as she saw Madilynn and smiled graciously. The girl trailed behind her only one suitcase, but it worried Morticia not. When the fallen angel traveled she only took the meagerest of belongings and from what Madi had told her at the zoo Morticia understood that she didn't have much. Well, that might change when she got a job and had a place to stay rent free for as long as she liked. "Welcome to my home. I hope you enjoy it." Gently, Morticia moved to the open doors. "If you want, I'll help you pick out a room first and then we'll have tea on the veranda. That is if you like tea. If not I can rustle up something else for you. I'm afraid I have no idea about your dietary concerns so we'll have to see about that right soon. Often, I cook breakfast and dinner, but you are on you own for lunch most days." The angel realized she was rambling and throwing tons of information at the girl at once. It might be a bit overwhelming.
Looking sheepish, the angel stepped into the house and beckoned Madilynn after her. "There are three floors. I live on the top floor with a bank of windows on one wall. There are two other bedrooms up there. More windows on top but it's also warmer in the summer. The second floor contains five bedrooms all with their own bathrooms and walk in closets. Bottom floor only houses three bedrooms and the library. If you wish to wander through them and take your time you may. I'll have someone in to repaint your room to a color more to your liking next week. I didn't want to paint anything till you'd chosen the color you'd like to see when you are in there." Morticia bounced on the balls of her feet and walked to the grand sweeping staircase that led to the second floor. Really she didn't know what to do with herself. She didn't want to follow Madilynn around and bother her as she chose, but she was already dying to know more about the young lady who would now share her abode with her.

She had never been to a place this big. Pick her room? Tea on the veranda? Madi just shook her head as she listened to the girl ramble on even more about the rooms. Madi blinked a few times and felt a tad nauseous. ”Um.. Well, I guess I’ll go with a room on the bottom floor since the library is down here. I really like to read. Thank you, Morticia…” Madi simply chose the first door she came into and walked into the room, glancing around her at the color of the walls. Well, if the girl was going to offer to paint it for her, she might as well take advantage of it. She turned to the girl. ”I think a nice baby blue color would suit this room well,” she smiled at the girl.

Morticia could tell she was overwhelming her new house guest and immediately felt bad about it, but knew not how to make it up yet. Instead the angel changed tactics and decided to speak about the house. Soon the angel fell silent and waited for her house guest to decide which room she would like. Waiting contentedly, Morticia's fingers traced the woodwork on the banister and smiled ever so gently. Her mind wandered over the house and wondered how many room would need to be redone before it felt homey again. As Madi announced her choice, Morticia crossed the floor back to her presence.
The angel nodded her head slowly as the girl tentatively chose a room downstairs. "You are more than welcome, Madilynn. I'm glad to have some one inhabiting the house with me. It's a rather large place in which to live alone. I've a bit of a tendency to encourage those who need a place to stay to inhabit it with me. As the girl spoke of her wish for the baby blue color, Morticia walked to the antique phone in the foyer and immediately called her most trusted painter and set up a time for him to come the next day. Setting the phone back in it's cradle, she turned back to Madi. "The painter will be here tomorrow afternoon to repaint the room. If it will bother you to have a stranger in, it's not necessary for you to supervise. Mr. Dell is very trusted by me and he's a supernatural like you and I." The angel was trying to keep the shifter comfortable. "Now shall we go back to the verandah to partake in some tea?"

She was pretty sure she could get used to living around here. If only Morticia would tell her what she needed help with around the house. She didn’t like taking without giving back. When the girl had hung up the phone Madi smiled and nodded at her offer, following the girl through the enormous house, taking in every little detail she could.

Morticia's dark eyes flickered around the house and gently she pushed the front door open as they sojourned back to the front deck. Morticia sat down in a large wicker chair and motioned for Madi to do the same. Lifting her now cool tea from one cup. Her eyes wandered the property as she tried to think of what to speak to the dear girl about. She supposed she should try to get to know her, but Morticia was finding it hard to think of anything to speak about that wouldn't be overly personal or require Madi to ask anything of her. Morticia wasn't yet ready to reveal to the shifter that she was a fallen angel and so she avoided asking Madi about being a shifter or her parents. The angel certainly didn't want to conjure up any bad memories or distress for the younger supernatural.
Finally, the angel turned to her. "So, tell me do you have any long term plans, Madilynn? Like do you have a vision of where you'd like to be in five years?" Looking down the patio, Morticia began to wonder what kind of easy menial jobs she could have the girl do. At the zoo, the girl had mentioned helping out and Morticia could take a bit of help around the place especially if it made the girl feel more at home. "Do you have any particular...skills? You don't have to help around here if you don't want, but I know you mentioned something at the zoo about it. Personally, I've always hired handy mans to take care of things....I fear one of my few failings is not being handy with tools or fixing anything." The angel looked down sheepishly. Truthfully, giving her hammer generally resulted in disaster for the home. Soon after buying the home, MOrticia had discovered this failing the hard way when she attempted to do some small repairs to the house that she actually made worse in the end.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q633/TarnishedCopper/Graphics/MadilynnCarthena.png] [atrb=cellPadding,5,true][scrolly:h(190),w(480),sy] Madi sat on the porch with the girl, gazing over the property. It really was a beautiful location. Madi’s cheetah itched to come out and run through the large yard, to romp and play, perhaps even stretch out in the comfy grass and catch some sun. They sat in a bit of an awkward silence for a bit, neither of them saying anything. Finally, Morticia spoke up, So, tell me do you have any long term plans, Madilynn? Like do you have a vision of where you’d like to be in five years? Madi glanced over at Morticia then looked away, chuckling to herself. “I’m really not sure. I would like to do something with animals, preferably exotic animals. But I can’t really do anything at this point because I have maybe five cents to my name.” It was true, and she hated it. She would love to become an exotic animal vet or maybe a trainer. But that all took schooling, which required money. Do you have any particular… skills? You don’t have to help around here if you don’t want, but I know you mentioned something at the zoo about it. Personally, I’ve always hired handy mans to take care of things….I fear one of my few failings is not being handy with tools or fixing anything. Again, Madi chuckled. She had learned many things out on the street, including some she probably shouldn’t know, but that was beside the point. ”I’m pretty handy with basic things, and if I don’t know how to do it I can usually figure out how to do it. You just have to ask and I’ll tell you whether or not you could trust me to do it. I promise I wouldn’t do anything to make your house come tumbling down though.” She winked at the girl, then settled back in her chair, feeling more relaxed.

Morticia watched as Madilynn took in the landscape around the house. The home was intentionally secluded including a long walk up to the house that was shaded with any number of trees. The angel waited patiently for the shifter to answer her questions. A gentle smile came over her face as she listened to the shifter answer with unsure answers. "You could attend the local college and study zoology or something." When the shifter spoke of money problems, Morticia nodded not knowing how to help the shifter without just offering money. It was often a problem of the young and not a problem that MOrticia had herself but she could understand it. When she'd first become a fallen, she'd been very poor for nearly a century before she began to make a few friends who had connections and would help her out. Thinking deeply, the angel leaned back into her chair and curled her legs up under her. At six foot, her frame was lanky and folding herself into the chair took a bit of time at least to do so gracefully did.
Morticia nodded as the girl explained her abilities. "Know anything about putting up fences? That's the next project on my list is to restore the fence lines around the field which means cutting, clearing, and then erecting a fence that will hold up for some time. I would pay you for your time of course. Give me some time and I'll think of some other odd jobs that you might be able to do around her." One suddenly occured to her. "Do you have a driver's license?" It was an odd question but the angel had never bothered getting one and she knew nothing of driving the cars in her garage. It would be nice to have someone pick up groceries in the car and be able to pick up more at one time.

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:350px; font-family: times new roman; font-size: 12px; color: 000000; text-align: justify; padding-right: 15px]Madi tilted her head and listened to the girl as she curled up in the chair. Morticia looked like she was the same age as Madi, and yet she always got the feeling that the girl was much older and wiser than she was. She shrugged, both at her own thoughts and at the girl’s words. ”That would be great and that’s probably what I will do, eventually.” She smiled and gazed at the expanse of grass in front of her, eyes slightly tinged in gold as her cheetah tugged at the surface.
”Know anything about putting up fences?” Madi smiled as she listened to the girl. She knew a bit about everything. She had always done odd jobs to earn some money when she was out on the streets. Thankfully, putting up fences was one of the jobs she did often on farms. ”I know a bit about it. I may need a refresher though.” She was sure some manual labor would do her good. She could take some of her frustrations out. She could also get some money and start saving for her college fund. Do you have a driver’s license? Madi nodded distractedly, ”Yeah, I do. I can do any running for you if you would like. Could I also borrow a vehicle to apply for some real jobs?” She glanced over at Morticia, hoping she would allow her the use of her cars so she could start a real life for herself.
