Appearance:
Personality:Peregrine isn’t very tall, a rather medium height of 5’4 being her own, and she weighs only about 130 pounds. Her stature seems more willowy and lithe than stockier, even as her medium frame might suggest. She’s finely muscled from her days at the gym, keeping her tight figure even while ensuring she isn’t overly buff or ripped. She much prefers to be seen as the harmless one before ensuring that they’re surprised by her strength, which isn’t much compared to those larger than her, but she still is strong enough to take one most people she knows. As for distinguishing marks, she has none other than the little pendant she wears around her neck, a crystal of blue stone, handed down to her by her mother and her mother’s mother before her, passing it down the generations as a keepsake and a focuser for her family’s powers.
Her hair is a soft blond, intermixed with soft browns and tans, intermixing to create a platinum blonde/dirty blonde coloring that darkens with her time in the sun. Her skin is a gentle tan in winter, and fills out to a full on dark tan in the summer, due to her tendency to spend all day out in the sun, swimming or otherwise, gaining that tan that marks her as a former native to Australia. Her eyes are another of her distinguishing features, though maybe not so much so as to catch one’s attention instantly and keep it, but if one were to meet her gaze, they would find themselves surprised by the depth to her blue eyes, showing that she isn’t just another dumb blonde.
Due to her trauma at a younger age, she’s completely deaf. Now, since it was because of physical trauma, there is the possibility that her hearing may come back. And some days are better than others, she believes, with being able to hear extremely loud voices, or perhaps voices right next to her ears. But other days she can’t hear at all. She hopes one day to get all of her hearing back, but she knows that the longer she goes without it, the less of a chance there is of her regaining it. Due to her trauma as well, she has thick scars on the back of her head, underneath her hair, and the hints of them just behind her left ear, hidden when she keeps her hair down, but when she pulls it up one can see the scars leading down her neck to stop just past shoulder level.
History:
- Insecure.
- Due to her past, or what she remembers of it, Pere’s very insecure, worrying about what others think of her even before she thinks of what she should be. She’s constantly trying to meet other’s expectations of her, and she hates when she doesn’t, thinking that then they won’t like her anymore. She’s constantly taking on what seems like an almost needy persona, which in reality is only her insecurity showing through. Which is why she tends to hang out with those who have almost too much confidence in the hopes that she can ‘ride’ on their own confidence, bolstering her own and allowing her to be a bit calmer.
- Romantic.
- Ever the romantic, as people always say, and she lives up to expectations, as usual. She loves the idea of a happy ever after, and more often than not, she sees them happening around her. Her parents had a happy ending, or at least, she thinks they did, since she doesn’t actually remember what happened to them. Her big brother had a happy ending, again, she thinks so, but doesn’t remember, and she hopes that one day she can find that same happy ending. She’s constantly day dreaming about the ‘perfect guy’, and will always be happy to play matchmaker whenever she gets the chance to.
- Empathetic.
- Pere is extremely empathetic, to the point where she experiences the same exact emotions as anyone around her. If they’re angry, so is she. If they’re sad, so is she. So powerful is her empathy sometimes that she can’t bear to be around people, and ends up secluding herself away either in her room or somewhere else equally quiet. But that happens only rarely, and otherwise she’s out there, hanging out with friends or people with good vibes going, a thing that has her happy more often than not, enabling her to look past her own fears and insecurities to live in the moment, like those around her so often do. Although her empathy often leads her to try and make everyone else around her happy, which adds to her trying to live up to expectations.
- Math-Oriented.
- She loves, loves, loves math, or anything related to it. Her dream one day is to become a chemical engineer, and she works every day to make that wish come true. She loves anything to do with Chemistry, as well as Calculus, you give her equations, and she can do them. Her aptitude for math and the subjects relating to it often has her looking for more challenging work, and sometimes even approaching those that teach the higher level classes for some more work, if only to expand her knowledge of the subject and to challenge herself further.
- Insomniac.
- Pere is a notorious insomniac. One is very likely to find her somewhere about the town or the campus at night, almost never in her bed, spending her time trying to keep from sleeping so she won’t have nightmares. And even if she did want to go to sleep, every time she would try, her mind would refuse to let her get there, making her think she’s tired, but in the end she really isn’t. A day for her would probably range anywhere from eighteen to twenty hours, leaving her with only a few hours’ sleep each night, meaning she takes naps often, little cat naps, or otherwise you wouldn’t tell. Also because of having little to do, she often has a routine she follows at night, of which one is most likely to find her carrying out at any point during the night, so long as they know where she’s going.
- Post-Traumatic Stress.
- She has post-traumatic stress disorder, or at least, that’s what the doctors say. Pere doesn’t know what that is, or at least she does, the doctors told her, but she doesn’t really know what that has to do with her. It doesn’t help her figure out how to find her memories, if she even can, or how to find out what happened to her family, who or what attacked her and why, it doesn’t explain any of that. The only thing it does explain is why when she gets stressed, she has panic attacks and/or flashbacks of her life, before the accident, sending her into a state of shock unless someone can pull her out of it quickly enough.
- Forgetful.
- Can you blame a girl for forgetting things? Occasionally, perhaps, but that’s not the case with Pere. Her forgetfulness wasn’t inborn. She didn’t grow up with it, and she never had it before the accident in her youth, which subsequently led to her bouts of forgetfulness, as well as the fact that she cannot remember anything before the accident. All she does remember is waking up in the hospital after being in a coma and having to learn how to do everything all over again. She was told she was in a coma for a very long time, months even, and that she was all that was left of her family, but no one knew what happened to her family, nor why she had turned up in the ER, alone and on the verge of death.
- Artistic.
- Just like with math and chemistry, Peregrine loves the arts. Most of all, along with her love for math and chemistry, she loves building things with her hands. Be it sculptures, architecture, you name it, she builds it. Another reason why, believe it or not, if she isn’t out in the art rooms, or in the library working on her math/chemistry, one can find her in the mechanics department. She loves working with engines and seeing what makes them go, as well as tinkering with cars. As such at the moment she’s repairing a convertible mustang that she bought herself to drive when she turns eighteen.
Name: ~Tarnished Copper~Peregrine was born and raised, for the first few years of her life, in Ireland. At the age of about five, her parents began moving from place to place around the globe, for her father was a well respected hotel manager, meaning they changed places every year or so, only long enough for her to settle in but never to get a chance to make any real friends or roots. She continued in this way until she was twelve, settling down in Australia for the rest of the time being, since her father had been relocated to a place where there were numerous hotels set to go up, giving him an opportunity to stay for several years. That was her first chance in her life to make real friends and to set up roots.
She made friends and had the time of her life, learning what it meant to feel at home as she laughed, learned and played with those she knew, going to birthday parties, learning to surf and how to fit in, as well as what it was like to stand up for her friends. Pere soon learned just how valuable they could be when she started hearing rumors that her father was getting in with the wrong crowd, those who sought to buy off the higher ups of the hotel chain, as well as any other large business around in order to gain a bigger profit.
The girl didn’t want to believe that, and refused to even as those around her began turning against her, calling her traitor, deserter, among other harmful names that only battered down her confidence. But her friends stayed with her to the end, even when it all seemed at it’s worst, she found out that her father wasn’t just in with the wrong crowd, he was the leader of the rebellion against the control of the higher ups, and it devastated her. She didn’t want to believe that her father would do such a thing to her, to their family.
Her mother, seeing what was going to happen, gathered up their family and left the continent, instead heading for America, Louisiana to be precise. She settled down with her oldest son and her daughter, and Pere had to start all over again. After only a few months in their little town, her father came for them, along with a few thugs he’d hired to ensure that they wouldn’t get away again. In their rush to escape, her father got caught up with trying to convince her mother to see the truth, to see sense and join him, and the thugs were in charge of grabbing her and her eldest brother and his girlfriend, who had been staying over.
The thugs, not exactly being loyal to her father, used any means necessary to catch them, severely injuring her brother’s girlfriend and herself. Her brother fought back, though not in time to save his girlfriend from death, only managing to kill one of the two thugs, and then going after his father, who in his own anger, had killed her mother. Pere was forced to watch as her brother and father fought, the second thug dead of blood loss, her father dying of the same thing.
However just as her father hit the ground, she passed out from her own injuries, leaving her alone in the world when she came to months later in the hospital, her fifteenth birthday long since having passed while she was in the throes of her coma. And she had no idea who, where, or what had happened to her family. Pere ended up being too busy trying to relearn everything she’d taken for granted, and then once her hair had grown back, she knew all she needed to, and she had healed enough, a family came for her, a foster family, and took her to New Orleans, where she enrolled in Cry Wolf High, hoping that maybe she could find peace there.
