Fiddling with the two entry bracelets, she'd just bought. Rowan looked around and sniffed the air. She'd not yet seen Chandler arrive and she couldn't smell the ghost which was a bit of a problem for her. His species didn't tend to have much of a strong smell which bothered her, but she shrugged that wasn't his fault. Standing there waiting, she wondered why she'd even asked him to come. Oh yeah, she loved carnivals but she hated going alone. It was only fun to go with a bunch of friends...besides otherwise you ended up riding the rides next to some stranger and with her luck it would be an older stranger with hand problems.
Smiling, she began to put her own bracelet around her wrist. Twisting her wrist around, she snapped the bracelet on and fiddled with it simply waiting. Her nose was tuned to smelling all of the icing and sugar. Her mouth watered. She loved funnell cakes and all types of sugar between the rides and the food, Rowan was looking forward to a really fun night that might help her get over the mood she'd been falling into lately. Really who could be depressed at a carnival after all.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q633/TarnishedCopper/Graphics/ChandlerScott2.png] [atrb=cellPadding,5,true][scrolly:h(465),w(200),sy]** Well it was safe to say that Chandler had been surprised when Rowan invited him to go to the carnival with her, considering how serious and standoffish she seemed, and with all due respect, he seriously did not see her as being the type to like going to these places. Her wealth also had something to do with it, it made him see her as a classier kind of girl who would enjoy classical concerts and watching opera, it was a weird situation of explaining her personality in his head, but if that was true, then one could only imagine wonders for himself, the serious yet kind ghost who still thought he was a human. The soldier's head began to ache as he thought of such things, choosing to just go along with his original plan of this being a friendly outing with one of his companions that he didn't feel entirely awkward around, just like Maeve and Triassic. Rubbing his chin as his other hand turned the leather wheel of his car, the blue-eyed specimen noticed the glowing lights of the Ferris wheel, wondering if he was in the right spot, though it wasn't that hard to miss. Shrugging his shoulders as he turned off the radio, a mundane man speaking about a newly released epidemic, something to do with celery being intoxicated now, he listened to the purr of the engine as he parked towards the back gates, his paranoia after his… practical mother being attacked making him take the safe measure for everything.
** Getting out of the vehicle with a glance over to make sure the doors were locked, the stoic teen headed towards the booths were, seeing some girls waiting for their dates, and other boys who were gathering in groups to probably vandalize the outside walls of the fair. Channie paid them no heed, for as long as they didn't interfere with his night then he wouldn't cause a problem with the gun strapped at his waist in the holster, his long hoody covering any noticeable outlines, he didn't want the police hounding him for carrying a weapon, even if he was a part of the military. His shoes crushed the gravel beneath him as he noticed the familiar slender form of his friend, heading over towards her with a small smile, hand on her head in a greeting manner as he drew her into his muscled frame for a hug, murmuring, “Hey Row.” Thankfully the summer zephyr was rather pleasant at night and as his own pale azure irises met with those of a stunning emerald, he decided to mention when he noticed a glint in their depths, “Looks like someone has a sweet tooth.” He always saw the same expression on Tria whenever she smelt milk or sweets, being the feline that she was, and he never knew that it would also be the same for the werewolf as well, smiling at that factor, only to then add, “Well, I owe you anyways, we'll get all the heart attacks on a stick that you so desire.” He winked playfully to show that he was teasing her, after all, what could he say, he also had an inkling for junk food, his stomach was an endless pit and that was the way to get him to love you. Food.

Turning to look back at the crowd, her eyes swept the crowd and finally landed on Chandler walking up in a hoodie. She bounced on the balls of her feet so excited to get to riding rides. Roller coasters were her favorite, but she'd ride anything Chandler wanted to ride. Deep down inside, she was a bit afraid with graduation coming up her friend would be spirited away like all of the others. That thought interrupted her happy mood for the merest of moments before she shoved it away. Tonight was about living in the moment and enjoying the time she had left for such fun. As she saw Chandler had noticed her, Rowan's face broke into a large smile that lit up her eyes. "Hola Chandler." She muttered the words into his hoodie as he hugged her. Actually, she quite enjoyed the physical contact not for the reasons that most girls would. Instead, Rowan saw it like a packmate's simple greeting instead of anything more and she figured that Chandler probably saw it the same way too. It was a comforting thing and nothign more to her.
Rowan laughed as he mentioned her sweet tooth. Of course she had a sweet tooth and a big one at that. Her head nodded like a bobble head doll in response to his words. She was dying to shovel down some funnell cakes in the most unladylike manner possible. The werewolf didn't figure that Chandler would care and if he did...well...she wouldn't think of that at the moment. Placing her hand gently on his arm, she shook her head at him about the owing her. "You owe me nothing Chandler. It is enough for me just having you around as a friend." She smirked at him. "I will buy you all the heart attacks on a sticks you desire as long as I get some funnell cakes with lots and lots of powdered sugar." She was nearly bouncing out of her skin at the prospect. "Do you like rides? I love them, but if you are going to get sick on them I can ride by myself. It's okay. Really." She was rambling and already she could feel the happiness bubbling up inside her making her a bit of a bubbly girl. With quick energetic movements, Rowan wrapped Chandler's wristband around his wrist, then grabbed his wrist, and started to playfully drag him toward the front gate. "What rides are your favorite? I like roller coasters, but we can ride whatever as many times as you want."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q633/TarnishedCopper/Graphics/ChandlerScott2.png] [atrb=cellPadding,5,true][scrolly:h(465),w(200),sy]** Chandler felt satisfied when his pretty friend returned his hug, he always felt comfortable when being accepted physically, though each of them saw the embrace as something different. The girl probably associated it with her pack life, seeing as how that was how the canine mind was wired and he saw it as an anchor to the real world, keeping him from floating up into the sky of loneliness. He grinned at her laugh, glad that they were already getting to the bright side of things and well this was honestly the first time that the boy had seen his companion in such a chipper mood, he liked it, it suited her better in his opinion, made her appear more lively with the way her emerald eyes sparkled with life. He was positive that if she acted like this at school that everyone would thrive to be around her, though the more selfish side of his mind didn't want that, for what if she forgot about him? He didn't want to lose a friend, and with graduation coming up he knew that would mean nothing, seeing as how Maeve worked at the educational establishment and thus that meant he would be by her side when he got home from college, probably study in her classroom while helping her out with the students. Well, the hope for college if he wasn't drafted back into the army, and even then there was always time, he didn't want to keep negative thoughts in his mind, he would come back home safe.
** The touch on his arm was accompanied by a sense of loyalty, probably the same thing that Tabitha felt for him as he stood by Rowan's side, only to let out a chuckle at her teasing comment about all the sugary treats they were more likely than not going to devour, which would probably leave them with stomach cramps tomorrow morning. But it was worth it. With a grin he gently nudged her, grinning as they started walking into the carnival, “Sounds like a good deal.” Then something strange happened, it was like the normally serious werewolf had been switched with a bubbly teenage girl, like the one she was supposed to be, a beam on his own face at this amusing scenario, listening to her ramble on, barely managing to toss in, “Psht, of course I love rides, woman.” Then he was practically dragged through the crowd, following her with just as much gusto as he shook his head, stating bluntly with a gleam in his eyes, “You're so adorable.” Her next question was tossed at him, to deem what ride was his favorite and as he glanced around he noticed one of the larger roller coasters, and he answered her with a smirk, jerking his head towards it as he chirped, “Well I'm not sure yet, haven't been to one of these in a while. But that one looks fun, don't you think so?” He eventually made his way beside her as he dragged a sweeping hand in front of the image of this coaster, beckoning, “I, Chandler Scott, challenge you, Rowan Townshend, to see which one of us can remain on our feet after that ride. Feel like chickening out?~” Hehe, he liked this, it brought forth the child within him, and who knew what sort of chaos he and Rowan could cause together. Oh boy, their fellow fair-goers were in for a surprise today.

Rowan was glad to see that her friend was smiling at her chipper mood. Maybe he wouldn't be so put off by her happy side. Rowan hadn't been this excited and happy since before her mother's death, but tonight she was certain to make things different. She had put her mind to being happy and she'd die before she let any of her usual bad mood creep into tonight. No, Rowan Townshend was going to light up the world tonight with her great mood and nothing nothing short of the end of the world would get her down tonight and she was determined to show Chandler the night of his life while she was at it. Of all the people she knew, Chandler deserved to be happy most of all. After all, he was partially responsible for this change in her mood.
Rowan smiled knowingly as she began walking. If she was happy and jumpy now things could only get worse as she downed sugar. If she got the fill of the food she wished to have she might not sleep for a week and better yet she might be able to keep this happy mood up for that full week also. Devil may care about the consequences that may come from all the sugar and the rides. Being a werewolf, Rowan had a strong stomach she just hoped that Chandler could keep up with her. "Of course it's a good deal, I half grew up in the world of corporations I always make good deals." She smirked being able to talk about her past and her family without cringing or hiding was refreshing. When she'd lived in New York, it didn't matter about her family. She'd gone to school with students who had parents who were almost as rich and influential it didn't matter as much there as it seemed to here. Here she worked so hard to hide who she was for safety's sake well to hell with that from now on she was going to be up front and honest no matter what. The werewolf beamed at her friend as he tossed in his two cents at her comment about rides. Good, well if he was game, she was ready to have the time of her life for one night only. "Good cause I don't plan to quit anytime soon." His words about adorable sent a rush up her spine and she was ever more eager to go play. She took it like he meant she was adorable like a puppy and not in any other way though her heart would long to accept his compliments in another way she didn't want to make any kind of assumptions about her innocent friend's intentions.
Rowan shook her head as he spoke of not being to a fair in awhile. "Well buddy you are in for the ride of your life tonight. I think that one looks like immense fun." Instantly, she began to walk in that direction as if pulled along by the mere sight of the roller coaster. Already she was weaving through the crowd though careful not to lose hold of Chandler for fear of losing him in the crowd that was milling about. She smiled and looked directly at him as he challenged her. "I, Rowan Townshend accept that challenge. Though I must warn you that I will win this challenge and then I'll walk your woozy butt home and make sure no one robs you on the way, that's how good of a friend I can be." She smiled and walked along so happy and free until they reached the end of the line waiting to climb on the roller coaster. Rowan was sure that her friend was enjoying things as much as she was.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q633/TarnishedCopper/Graphics/ChandlerScott2.png] [atrb=cellPadding,5,true][scrolly:h(465),w(200),sy]** It was safe to say that any depression that had collected over the weeks within Chandler's system had been wiped away when he saw Rowan smiling and laughing, it made him feel good to see those emerald eyes sparkle with delight and excitement, she truly was beautiful like this, a chipper angel rather than a sulking demon. Yes, once he got back from the war from his draft he would definitely visit her at the school when he went to help Maeve out, and if he ever saw her acting upset or down again, he would force her to smile. Nobody could resist tickling, right? He would remind her of this day and make her lighten up, for he knew that would make her life better, for then everyone would love her companionship, and as such she wouldn't have to worry about being so lonely anymore, as he knew how she was in that heart. That was the main thing they shared in common, that emptiness in their hearts, his with never having had parents to love him and living on the streets, and the werewolf with her mother's death, the responsibility of a pack on her shoulders. Drifting out of his deep state of thinking, the ghost walked beside his friend as she teased about the good deal, she was rather excellent at getting people to agree with her, it was that tough personality that intrigued you and as such it drew you in to accept. His lips tugged up happily in a grin at her eagerness to get on a ride, she reminded him so much of the children in the orphanage he visited, sans for the climbing all of his body, but hey, who knew what would happen once she was drugged up on all that sugar and junk, some people just went bezerk.
** Within the glossy film of his pale blue eyes one could see the reflection of the glowing rides and Ferris wheel, glee and relaxation seeping through his system, this was just so calming, to not have to worry about anything, no military, no school, no rumors, just plain peace. His gaze locked on the back of Row's silken locks as he made sure to stay close to her as she led them to the desired ride, a grin on his guise the entire way, hand on her shoulder when he finally caught up, snickering at her accepting terms of his challenge, now moving so that his arm was slung over her shoulders, holding her in close as they walked to the end of the line. He stared over the heads of some shorter people to wink at the staff member who held an interest in his close friend, and as he tugged her closer, acting as if they were on a date, the other man backed off with a slight cough, leaving only an innocently beaming Chandler behind. The line didn't last as long as he had expected, or maybe it just seemed shorter due to them chatting in that way of theirs, about anything under the moon, and that was when the man at the machine waved them forward, the soldier detaching himself from Row as they were set into the two-seat ride, the lap and chest bars being pulled over them as the cart groaned, more pairs being added until there were around eight of them, the light above them blinking as a voice groaned the basic rules. He was anticipating the thrill of the ride, the squeak of the wheels, the blur of the world. The exhilaration.

Plans began to solidify in her mind. She was having so much fun and wanted to make it last as long as possible, but with Channie graduation she didn't want him to go away. Her mind had been playing around with the idea for days and finally she decided tonight she'd ask him about it. There were plenty of colleges around and she knew that her friend wished to be a vet. LSU was only a few hours away and they had their own vet college. On the other hand, money was tight for her friend but not for her. Actually both of Rowan's families had provided a college fund for her on top of her other inheritances. Her mother's pack would never let her use her fund for someone who wasn't a werewolf but she'd already spoken to her paternal grandparents who'd long since agreed to let her use the fund for whatever she wished as long as she attended college at some point. Sucking up all her courage, Rowan decided that after all their fun tonight, she'd offer him her college fun and explain her ulterior motives behind the charity of the gesture. He was her best friend and she wished for him not to be far from her if he didn't have to be. It had been a very long time since she'd had such a gorgeous, innocent, and friendly person in her life. She was definitely going to keep him close at all possible and knowing her connections she could do that fairly well if he played along with her.
Rowan turned ever so slightly to look at him as he put a hand on her shoulder, but she figured that she'd take all the physical contact she could get tonight. After all, he might be offended by her offer and never want to talk to her after that. Once again, she rid herself of those thoughts tonight was about sugar, rides, and her best friend. She stepped into his side putting them as close as two people could be and be decent when he threw his arm around her shoulder. Rowan felt so safe standing that way with him. His arm around her shoulders, her eyes shifted around looking at all the food stations, prize winning money sucking macho games to play, and all the other sparkling rides. She never noticed the staff member giving her the once over look. When Chandler tugged on her, she looked up at him with a beaming face. As the bars were tugged down over him, Rowan punched him playfully in the shoulder. "Are you ready for this?" Her face was deadly serious in a childish way. Her hands were white from gripping the bars in anticipation. "What would you like to do after this, Channie?"

Her question echoed in his ears like a challenge as he beamed right back at the beautiful woman, blue eyes colliding with those of a jeweled green, chiming right on back without a moment of thought, “More than I've ever been.” Though of course the ride was delayed by some parents second guessing their choices and trying to get their kids out of the cart, the workers helping to adjust such things as he took in Rowan's second statement, humming as he tried to remember the map of the carnival. Of course the soldier was biased, seeing as how he was working on a scholarship to go to college to follow his dream of becoming a vet, but it was sort of hard when the army was breathing down his neck to finish his contract. He finally made up his mind as he leaned his back against the stiff seats, chuckling out with an anticipated look, the both of them just like children given their first fun experience of a lifetime, “I'm thinking the little petting zoo they have near the Ferris wheel. Then we can see something cute, even though I have one right in front of me.” He tapped her nose playfully at that comment, remembering her lovely wolf form, only for his focus to be drawn to the beeping red light as the ride began to slowly gurgle its way up.
** It took only minutes as they reached the pinnacle of the roller coaster, creaking on its hinges as it remained at the peak, only to be plunged downwards, defying gravity as his body felt the need to rise out of the seat, the safety bar holding him down, proving its usefulness before they were sent along a variety of sharp turns and loops. He was laughing along with the screams of the other riders, face flush with the blood rushing to his head every time they were turned upside down, and when they had come to the slowed down end where they were let off, his feet stepping out on to the wooden floorboards, he wobbled with mussed cocoa hair. Though that didn't stop his chuckles as he linked arms with the werewolf once more, starting to lead the pair to where the animals were kept, asking with tints of humor, “Were you scared?~” The miniature barn-looking building came into view as he grinned, hearing the sounds of sheep and ducks, one chicken scampering in front of them, followed by her chirping chicks, his manliness dropping by the second as he murmured out, “Aww.” They walked past the front door where they were searched for weapons, customary he guessed to protect the innocent animals, and then let through, already stopping at the first pen to pat the snout of a llama, who in turn nipped at his hair. Its buddy saw what fun it was having with Chandler, trotting up and butting its own maw at Row, begging for attention or maybe even to get a grip of that hair as well.

Had the ride's bar not been pressed down against her lap, the werewolf might have honestly bounced right out of her seat in excitement. Like a child about to get their favorite toy, Rowan could think of nothing better than riding a roller coaster with imminent ability to consume as much funnel cake as wished in the near future. Yes, this was turning out to be the best night the young one had in awhile. It was one of the many things that Rowan found she liked about Chandler. His ability to make her feel young and carefree and yet safe in the same moment in time was comforting to one who was used to always looking over her shoulder and acting older than she was. Chandler allowed her to be a child, something her parents had rarely seen necessary in one destined to become an alpha. Rowan stuck her tongue out at her friend as he flicked her knee. "Well, now I'm wounded...How shall I ever go on?" She muttered in mock dramatics even going so far as to place the back of her hand to her head as if she were to faint. A dark playful grin spread over her face as he acknowledge her question with happiness. It was good to see that he was having fun to. Her eyes roamed the roller coasters swoops and curves wondering what sort of forces and speeds were all at work. If it was up to the young werewolf what she wanted to do with her life, she would be an engineer. All the work with math and building of things seemed to be a fun use of her mathematical brain. As her friends graduated, Rowan decided she'd actually like to go to college, if only to mainly avoid responsibility for a few more years plus learn more about the exciting world of math.
As the ghost, funny she rarely thought of him that way, he was still so human, so solid, mentioned the petting zoo, she laughed. "Pity it's not a full moon for they could all be food. I mean really who wants to pet a goat when you can eat one." She hoped she didn't offend the one so in love with animals but really she was a carnivore after all. "But I suppose since I'm humaniod tonight I will enjoy the opportunity of petting furred beasts." As he called her cute and tapped her nose, she turned away and blushed. "Only in wolf form." She muttered truthfully. Rowan had no delusions of grandeur. True, she wasn't bad looking, but compared to some of the other females roaming campus and the city, Rowan was nothing overly nice to look at. Truthfully, she found her most alluring qualities to be her eyes and hair beyond that, the teenager found herself lacking in the looks department unlike her companion. She tried not to think of her friend in such a way sure that he didn't think of her in such a light, but at times it was irresitable to look at the man beside her and not drink in his gorgeousness if only to make one feel better for awhile.
Thankfully, the ride began and the wolf's attention turned to the movement of the car and the twists and turns. She even enjoyed the mounting anticipation as they climbed the first hill, dragged up by hooks and chains underneath the car. Perhaps her favorite part of the ride was the pinacle moment as the roller coaster paused as if questioning atop the first peak and then plunged over the edge. Hands in the air, Rowan resisted the urge to make a sound instead listening to those around her in pure heaven at the feel, the sights, and the sounds. Nothing lasted long enough for to fully seek it out, which made for an interesting time for the werewolf who was used to overanalyzing everything. As they came off the ride, Rowan drug fingers through her long tresses seeking to make it lay down before linking arms with her friend. As he asked if she was scared, she leaned into him and pretended to tremble. "I...I was shaking in my boots as you Southeners say." She smirked a bit not scared a bit by the roller coaster. "You?" As they entered the barn, Rowan resisted the urge to analyze each animal as food. As the chicks ran out in front of her, she smiled at her friends expression of their cuteness. It was fitting, though she did not imitate his sound in anyway. Her green eyes glittered, though she found herself more attracted to looking at half grown cows and baby horses. Often, the wolf was drawn to the larger prey animals. They tended to be less fearful of her and more accepting. As they came up to the llamas, Rowan found herself a bit timid. She'd never seen one of the creatures in real life and found that the information she did know about them ie they spit and bit made her a bit nervous about encountering one. As one nipped at Chandler's hair and then another ran over, Rowan turned her body a bit and petted him. "No eating my hair buddy. I'd really rather not have to go get a hair cut to even out the pieces you bit off." She petted the beast's muzzle with one hand before drifting her other hand down it's neck inspecting the feel of it's fur. It was wooly not as much as a sheep but more so than a meat goat. Such a strange texture. Soon the young wolf was entranced in petting the beast's shoulders and dragging her fingers through the curls. Her eyes then drifted over to an enclosure that held a few donkeys. With a pat and a whispered goodbye, the wolf bounced over to the enclosure and spoke in spanish to the donkeys wondering if they could understand her. A half grown one wandered to the fence and she reached through to pet it's ears and velvety snout. "What is your favorite kind of animal, Channie?" It was an odd question but she wished to ask.

He understood that people had to eat, and he always supported that rather than unnecessary hunting for sport, so the brute rubbed a hand over a hard abdomen, chuckling in reply, “Mm, never had goat before. I've eaten camel though, when I was stationed in Kuwait, tasted just like venison.” He remembered that day quite clearly, it had been scalding in the desert and they were nearly out of food, so when one of the camels started lagging behind the others, its joints buckling, well, they decided to put it out of its misery with the excuse of survival. It definitely wasn't the most glamorous meal he had in his life, but it was food, and having grown and died as an orphan without much to eat, he didn't complain. Then they were back on the topic of the rampaging roller coaster, a snort erupting into the air at the mention of whatever expressions they had down here, only for the question to be directed back at himself, hand playfully fluttering over his own heart as he sighed out, “My heart nearly stopped.” A laugh couldn't be contained as they walked into the petting barn, the llamas taking quite the interest in their hair as he run long fingers along their stretched necks, narrowly avoiding the hot spit of one of the angrier animals as he started to walk towards the donkeys with Rowan. The baby of the older equine eventually wandered over to sniff the ghost's open palm, chocolate brown eyes wide with surprise at the lack of scent, but the soldier didn't notice this, just coining it as the youngling never having encountered too many people yet.
** The pretty werewolf's question made him blink, though it was definitely appropriate for the moment considering how they were overtly exposed to all these different species of animals in a condensed enclosure. He patted the baby donkey's cheek a few times before he glanced over at his friend with a cheeky smile, chiming out, “Canines, all of them. Dogs, wolves, foxes, I had a puppy when I was younger, he kept me company when my parents weren't home.” There never were any parents, nor any home. He remembered the starving pup, the both of them sleeping in that tiny cardboard box together, and he would share all his scraps with the dog, but it didn't survive for very long, a few months at most, sickness eventually causing that bony frame to wither away, and Chandler didn't last very long after that either. Then he focused on the yipping Border Collie pups in the other corner, gaining the attention of most of the children at the fair, as well as the serious soldier as he slinked towards them, kneeling down and tapping his thigh to try and beckon one over. A merle pup was the first to respond, yipping as it butted its head against his wrist, fluffy and wriggling as he scooped it up, grunting when its moist tongue lapped underneath his chin, waltzing back to the maiden as he chuckled, “See, how could anyone resist this face? But what about you? Don't tell me it's a cat.” His pale blue gaze glittered with teasing, presenting the irony in a werewolf feeling fond towards a feline, and he felt the puppy's paws smacking against his forearm as it craned its tiny muzzle to try and sniff at the girl's skin, barking and whining to be held by her, to which the boy rocked it slightly with hushing sounds, pout on his lips as he murmured, “Calm down, little guy. She's not your momma~”

Bright green eyes shown as he laughed at her comment. She loved hearing his laughter. He didn't seem to be laughing at her ever...instead he seemed to find her funny unlike others. As he mentioned being stationed overseas and eating camel she stuck her tongue out. "Sounds gross, but you do what you have to do live." She smiled at him not wanting him to dwell on the past knowing that for him it wasn't a good thing as it wasn't a good thing for her. It was better for the pair to concentrate on the present on the future. The girl had to admit that her friend's suggestion had been good as she walked around the petting zoo. Animals were outlawed at her parents house and her mother's family only allowed horses at the ranchero. Actually, she'd rarely seen other animals outside the zoo and now she was enjoying petting them. As one of the llamas attempted to spit on him as he walked away, she chuckled. "I see you are making friends already, Channie." She wished she had a different nickname for the boy, one that was all her own but she didn't. A smile stuck on her face. He really was the best friend she'd ever had. A smirk exchanged spots with the smile as the baby donkey showed surprise at the lack of scent. She wanted to tell the donkey how he had the same effect on her. The lack of scent was unsettling. Humans...no matter how much they bathed had a scent on their skin. All animals did...but not ghosts. She'd gotten used to it, but it did mean that the only ones who could sneak up on her would be ghosts.
Her head nodded as he spoke about loving canines. She remembered their meeting when she was in werewolf form. He'd petted her and been taken with her. Rowan almost laughed. If she admitted the truth to herself, she'd kill to see that look in his eyes when she was in human form. Adoration, pure unadulterated adoration. As they wandered onto the puppies, she paused for a moment. A deep borderline loving smile spread on her face as the soldier knelt among children and called a puppy over. "No one can resist that face." Her eyes were on his face not the puppies. She'd seen tons of werewolf pups and she knew the cute factor could save their lives just like that of the pups. As he asked her favorite animal she faltered for a second. Could she tell him the truth and make him understand? Hell, if he didn't take her offer at the end of the night there might be no need to explain. "It's humans. She whispered. "I was born and trained to help protect humans. They are my favorite beings and one of those things I'm not supposed to hang with though either." Rowan smiled and finally turned her attention to the puppy as he strained toward her and made his wants vocally known. Putting her hand on his arm lightly, she reached for the puppy. "Eh, it's okay. He simply recognizes an alpha when he sees one." Her fingers played with his ears and her smile deepened. "You know you could take him home. He's awfully cute and he would be a great running buddy." Desperately, she wanted to shower Chandler with gifts, and not even that she'd love to have a pet of her own and the puppy already seemed a good match, but just like Chandler she couldn't keep him. The one thing she had was her pack and they excluded all those things she wished to have.
