Dark twisted fantasy
There was no room for error this time. This run wasn't just the basic rundown of scaring some kid or wimpy teacher who sided with the wrong species. Not even their own species, at that! But that was neither here nor there. Jaime waited patiently in the alley. While the females were usually the hunters with concerns to his animal, the lion shifter wasn't naive to how it worked.
The van was already running and waiting. All that was left was for the girl to walk by. Casually, he leaned back against the brick building, a leg propped up against it with arms crossed while he puffed on a cigarette. Nasty shit, but it made for a good cover. Just a handsome guy in his work clothes taking a smoking break. Just a handsome guy with a ski mask in his back pocket and a loaded gun tucked into his jeans.
Jaime thought the gun superfluous. One, his target was a woman. Some kind of supernatural, they were certain, but unknown as to what. It didn't matter to him. Women, no matter the species, all reacted the same. Fear. Mind-numbing fear. Even his own lionesses trembled at a show of his power whenever he had a mind to. This one would be no different.
He took another drag from the cigarette. Damn, he could see why they were addicting. He didn't even like them and already, he was beginning to wonder how many were in a pack. Dangerous shit.
Despite the smoke curling under his nose, he knew it was her as she turned onto the street. Humans had crowded the streets as they hustled about their business. No one even seemed to notice him there. But he knew it was her. He smelled shifter. Even better, he smelled prey. Pulling the cigarette from his mouth, he licked his lips before crushing the butt against the brick wall.
In a fluid movement, he pulled the ski mask from his back pocket and pulled it on over his head. Step. Step. Step. There. Strike range. Like the predator he was, he snatched her arm as she walked past and yanked her into the dark alleyway with his hand clamping down hard over her mouth.
His partner already had the van door open and waiting as Jaime wrestled the woman away from help and farther into the darkness. Without kindness, he tossed her into the back to the waiting hands of a man rougher than himself before slamming the door shut. He ripped off the mask and jumped into the driver's seat.
Any attempts to cry out were quickly silenced by his partner's rough gagging as his little prey was trussed up like a turkey. Jaime's tongue snaked out to lick his grinning lips as he imagined dinner - and all its pleasurable variations. Maybe he'd get to have some fun with this one since they were keeping her for an extended visit.
It wasn't long before he was pulling out into traffic and his partner had joined him up front, taking shotgun. "That was relatively painless," he commented. Some sounds from the back and a glare from his partner now sporting a bloodied lip had him amending that. "Well, for me."

Shiori sighed as she maneuvered her leg to swing it over the side of the table, watching as the doctor’s skilled hands carefully wrapped her knee in an ace bandage. She carefully lowered herself to the floor once he was done, allowing her left leg to take the brunt of her weight. The doctor refrained from helping her; after a year of monthly check ups, he’d learned not to touch her unless he was examining her. She listened to his verdict grimly, knowing already what he would say. No improvement. For a few months after the accident, she’d shown some progress. But then they discovered what the real problem was and once it reared its ugly head, all progress halted. She only did therapy everyday now to stop from regressing. They also did mental evaluations after all at the therapy sessions and until she could go six months without an episode, as her contract with her company said, the company would continue to be run by a board of executives.
The news was different today.
Her window of opportunity to receive the surgery that would fix her leg was closing. In all honesty, she was ready for the surgery long ago, but there came the problem of funds and with her mental instability, no one was willing to do a pro bono surgery for a girl who couldn’t properly take care of herself. She had no support system after all. Soon she’d be permanently crippled. If she had control of her company, she’d have access to the funds saved away and the money needed for the surgery.
Another window closing. Her time frame for snagging her company back was coming to an end as well. She only had months now to show mental competence to the board. It had been a while since she’d had an ‘episode.’ She’d had minor ones, but none like what the contract defined. Okay so maybe her mental break down a few weeks ago with Shin was a true breakdown. But none of her friends felt the need to report it. So technically she was showing improvement. But it was more than that.
She only had months to complete her plan with Heero and they had hit a brick wall a mile high.
Shiori sighed and ducked her head, staring at the bandages that hugged her leg. She knew what it looked like underneath, knew its grotesque appearance. The shriveled skin really wasn’t as bad had her whole leg been atrophied. The problem wasn’t the muscles, though. It was the neurons that connected them. Or something along those lines. She could use her leg, but she had very minimal range of motion and always walked with a limp and pain. The brunette doctor put a sympathetic hand on her shoulder and for once, Shiori didn’t lash out. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to bring forth the memories that had once comforted her. She once had been a child star, winning hearts with her powerful dance routines. Now she was a no body and she’d always be one.
Shiori scrubbed at her eyes and gave her doctor a forced smile. He knew her predicament and knew that this might be the last time he’d see her. With the surgery out of her grasp, there was no point for these check ups anymore. She gave him a small wave and left the hospital, hands shoved in her pockets. Her sharp hip bones jabbed her hands with each limping step. Today was actually a good day for her leg. Shiori wasn’t surprised when her ‘chauffer’ was not waiting for her outside. No big deal, she wanted to walk anyway.
She pulled the sleeves of her baggy cardigan up to better take the heat. She hated wearing shorts but had to on these appointments. She liked her baggy clothes that hid her skinny, bony form from view. Not that she cared about the looks she might get, her scowls and glares were enough to stop someone from saying something. Shiori was far from a lady. Shin teased her now that he knew who she was. An Ikeda, and a shifter; he was always saying her shifter form should have been some wildcat with her temper, not a sweet little songbird. He always did that, joke about her shifter form like it wasn’t some secret or big deal. She was beginning to see, though, that it was only a big deal because she made it one.
It hurt less now to think about her locked shifting abilities. She had Shin now, after all, and while it scared her, these feelings, he always made things better even when they fought.
Her thoughts were on said angel when she was snatched. She didn’t scream, thinking it might be Shin playing a prank on her. He liked to sneak up on her sometimes and he’d wanted to come to this appointment for some reason. Instead of sparking an argument between them, as it always was when it came down to her health, she just smiled and ‘accidentally’ gave him the wrong appointment time. She wouldn’t have put it past the blond singer though to follow her.
Her suspicions were quickly confirmed wrong though, when she noticed the hand was much larger than Shin’s and her captor immediately clamped a hand over her mother before she could protest. Immediately she began to shriek under the offending hand and thrash about. She was easily overpowered and handed off to someone else. Someone not as strong. Shiori pounced. She kicked backwards with her good leg, seeking to snake her foot behind his ankle in an effort to trip him. She jabbed him with her sharp elbows; her arms were well built now to compensate for her poor legs. She was glad that being underweight made her not the most comfortable thing to grab and hold.
Her captor’s hand was removed as he growled at her, at which point she too growled ferally at him and promptly began a string of particular strong profanities in both English and Japanese. She still thrashed about wildly, her voice cut off when a gagged was shoved into her mouth. She took her chance to snap at the fingers that had to stray close to her mouth in order to place the gag and heard him give a cry. She tasted blood and gave a grin from behind the gag as it was tied. The man shoved his body weight on her to hold her down and tie her hands behind her back. When he looked up, Shiori snapped her head back with all her might. She didn’t hear the crunch to give away a broken nose, so that means she missed her intended target. But as he shoved her away, still kicking and growling, she caught a glimpse of his busted lip.
’Ha, take that you little mother fucker.’ she continued to thrash about, all the while working her hands into her shorts to finger the pocket knife she’d hidden there. She was not going to make this easy for them. Not at all.

Dark twisted fantasy
Her fight was getting him riled up. Jaime always loved a good tussle. Boss man had better let the boys all have some fun under the sheets with all these victims otherwise the lion shifter knew tensions would get high. They just needed an outlet! Some way to blow off some steam. Best ways to do that was to punch someone or fuck someone. He'd heard a few guys were in the plans for taking as well, so there's be punching bags a'plenty.
The back of the van was alive with fight. She sure was a wildcat, though she didn't smell like one at all. More like something he would eat for a snack before moving on for dinner.
"Can't believe you let a little girl beat you up," Jaime muttered, shooting his partner a pitying look when he saw him nursing bruised ribs and wiping the blood away from his lips.
"Little bitch bit me, too."
Jaime chuckled as he kept his eyes on the road. "Serves ya right for not putting her in her place," he snorted in response. Keeping his hands steady on the wheel, he gave the guy another look with lifted brows. "Did you even frisk her to make sure she didn't have a damn phone in her pocket? Or a weapon?" At the guilty look, Jaime shook his head. "Useless."
Already, they were on the highway. He stayed with the flow of traffic - meaning a few miles above the speed limit. A cop wouldn't pull someone for going just a bit over, especially if everyone else was doing the same. It would be a long drive what with all the fight she was still putting up back there. Taking a pit stop wouldn't be totally uncalled for... Boss man wouldn't blame him. Ain't like he took an oath to get her there unharmed. He'd promised to get her there alive.
"What are you doing?" his partner asked, shooting Jaime a concerned look when he turned off onto an exit that wasn't the one they were meant to take.
"Relax, you'll get a turn. Just want to enjoy our little prize before we give her over." There were more protests, but a man - even a brave man - could only stare into the eyes of a hungry lion for so long before backing down.
A few minutes later, he could scent the beginnings of fear as her adrenaline wore off. It tasted delicious. When finally they were in rural surroundings without a hint of human around, Jaime pulled onto the side of the road and into a field thick with growth. A tractor had left indentations in the crop, so he followed them, making for a bumpy ride in the back of the van.
Finally, he came to a stop, shutting off the ignition. "You want a round after or are you gonna stay a prude about it?" No man of their mindset would turn down such an offer. His partner got out of the van as Jaime had known he would.
He opened the sliding door, roughly yanking the girl closer before tossing her over to the waiting hands of his partner. "Might want to calm down or I'll be making this really painful," he threatened. It would be anyway. With his...equipment barbed, it always was. But the more she struggled, the harder it would be on her. He wasn't completely cruel. He preferred it as painless as possible. If he had to bite down on the back of the necks of his lionesses to make sure they stayed still...hey! He was only doing them a favor.

’Gonna fucking knock some damn heads when I get the chance,’ she snarled to herself as she worked her pocket knife into her bound hands. She maneuvered it securely into her palms, concealing it. It wasn’t exactly all that big and it could only really do harm once, the first split second she drew out, but it was better than nothing. She listened to their conversation all the while working her hands against her bindings. She slid the knife open slowly and stopped half way so it wouldn’t lock. The sound of the lock sliding into place would be heard. She began to slowly saw through her bindings, going slow once again so as to avoid detection. She made it half way through the bindings when the larger man spoke.
She almost dropped the knife in panic.
’Fuck!’ her body screamed and she couldn’t stop the panic and fear from rising. The sounds of other cars and the highway disappeared as they drew away from civilization. Her heart began to race and she slid the knife closed to avoid cutting herself. She’d heard of the mass attacks on students at the school, she’d never figured she’d be a target. They all struck at night or early morning, not in broad daylight. But she guessed with the change in plans, from attacks to kidnaps, they were changing other things too.
The road turned bumpy and she tried to brace herself best she could against the sides of the van, but she didn’t want to chance dropping her only weapon by using her hands to brace something too. She tested the binds, feeling them give a little beneath her. Good, she’d sawed through enough so that she could snap them apart easily enough when the time came. Her wrists were already red from moving them against the rope while working to cut it.
The car stopped and the man spoke, getting out of the truck. Her mind and heart were racing a mile a minute. She never remembered her heart beating this hard and fast, even when she was in bird form. With each footstep, her breathing quickened and her heart pounded louder. Finally the door opened and she was pulled out. She immediately struggled, but tried to avoid pulling too much at her bindings; they needed to snap at just the right moment.
She was tossed to his partner, at whom she glared at with as much venom as she could muster. She imagined the glare would melt diamonds if she possessed that power. While she was terrified, she still wasn’t the sobbing crying mess he might have wanted her to be. She couldn’t take on the blond, but she could certainly take this guy down. ’Like hell I will fucking calm down,’ she snarled through her gag and acted. She jabbed her elbows back, breaking her bonds. She flipped open the knife and stabbed downwards, slicing deep and hitting her mark judging by the spurt of blood that came with her pulling the knife out. She spun in a perfect pirouette on her good leg to face her other captor, reaching up to remove her gag. Her heart was beating much too fast. Her chest was tight and she couldn’t breathe. ”Let’s dance bitch.”

Dark twisted fantasy
Fear was a trigger for him. Hell, watching grass grow was a trigger for him if he looked at it a certain way. However, it was fear that really got his engines going. If he wanted just a rag doll, there were plenty of hollows in dying trees he could shove it in. A man's ass would suffice just as well. He'd done it before in dominance displays and didn't see a damn thing wrong with asserting himself. No, he wanted a fight; someone giving all they had to get away only to end up laying there broken and conquered.
There was no doubt she had plenty of fight left when the little heathen pulled a blade and jabbed it down into his partner's nethers. So damn useless.
Jaime felt no sympathy for his fellow shifter who curled up on the ground holding his crotch while blood leaked from between his fingers. With all the warmth of a snake, Jaime stepped over the bleeding, pleading man to get closer to his little victim. "I'll give you this: you're brave. But bravery only gets you this far. And that little thing?" he asked, indicating the knife in her hand. "Is about as useful as this mother fucker." Without preamble, Jaime turned to nail a brutal kick to his partner's face. There was no cry from him and his head was left at an odd angle. Turning back to Shiori, Jaime gave a grin. It could have been charming, but the intent behind it was far from. Like lightning, there was no longer a man in front of her, but an enormous, full-maned lion glaring at her. A huge paw snapped out to bat away the knife where it skidded towards the broken body of his partner. He advanced forward another step, letting his other paw fly at the leg she'd balanced so well on. No more good balance for you there, he thought maliciously, watching as her clothes were torn. Quickly, blood began to soak into her pants. The scent was enough to spurn him on and Jaime launched his bulk at her, his massive paws wrapping around her body in a deadly hug. Tackling her to the ground, the shifter pinned his prey to the ground before forcing her over onto her belly and biting down on her shoulder, just barely grazing near several vital vessels. The bite wasn't enough to draw blood, but they provided proof that his huge canines could - and would - sink in if she didn't behave. Feeling quite pleased with his progress, Jaime let his claws do the work of stripping her clothes away until she lay bear before him with bloody wounds running along her sides where he hadn't been careful enough. Something akin to a purr rumbled from the massive male's chest. This would be grand and glorious... [/blockquote] Turned to reality

She’d be lying if the look upon her blond would-be-kidnappers face didn’t strike some kind of nerve in her. Shiori had known fear her whole life; she wasn’t stupid though. She knew how to handle fear pretty damn well if she did say so herself. She never let it control her. As a child, it had. Being that of a bird shifter, fear was a great enemy to her. Her heart would race and she’d pass out easily. Her first encounter with stage fright had been horrific, but she’d gotten over it. She’d learn to master fear. So yes, part of her was afraid right now. She’d be the biggest idiot on the planet if she wasn’t afraid, but she knew fear clouded the mind. So she squashed it down and let it fuel her anger.
Shiori barely blinked at this man’s words nor even his treatment of his partner. He was a snake and snakes ate those who were worth nothing to them. She almost expected it. He hadn’t shown sympathy when’d she broken his part nose; why should he be any different if she’d did his partner in. Well, she would have did him in if this man hadn’t finished him off. She snarled in response to his words, pissed that one of her kidnappers would not suffer. He turned to her, his intentions bright in the sickening grin curling his ugly mug. Shiori gripped her knife more tightly, knowing it was her only defense. Her chest was tight, her breath coming out in sharp puffs. Adrenaline pumped in her veins and instinct begged her to run as the man in front of her gave way to the form of a massive maned feline.
Fuck.
Before she could blink, a massive, clawed paw snapped the knife from her tight grip along with the bird-thin delicate bones. She gave a small cry, not expecting the sharp pain and curled her hand back to cradle it against her chest. Instinct brought her hand up to her throat as the lion leaped forth. She turned sideways, intent on leaping sideways.
A human girl, half starved and weak from physical exhaustion of just existing stood not chance against such a powerful creature as the lion bent on ruining her. She felt the bite of claws ripping into skin before the pain hit. It shot up her spine like wildfire, her lips parting in an agonized shriek as her body crumpled to the ground. The massive form of the lion leaped at her, his gargantuan paws wrapping around her body in a suffocating huge.
Down they went, and she was pinned.
His form crushed her tiny frail body to the ground, the cold dirt digging into her cheek and burning her eyes. His cold jaws clamped down on her shoulder, his monsterous jaws practically swallowing her torso whole. She couldn’t breathe. His teeth grazed her pale skin tauntingly, teasingly. He was playing with her, like the mother who brings the exhausted antelope calf to its youngster and watches as it finds out how to kill it on its own. Only , her death would be a released from the torture she knew was to come.
Her world lit with the fires of hell as white hot flames of agony licked at her body. Fear, raw and cold, lanced her very core. This was not simple fear. This was terror. She couldn’t breathe. The terror gripped her core, freezing her voice when all she prayed for was the release of a scream, if only to somehow release the pain building within her chest with each bloody gash of claws rendering skin from bone.
She couldn’t breathe.
God, she should have known she stood no chance against these guys. But then again, Shiori didn’t stand a chance against a lot of things. The world was out to get her, yet she still fought. Back then she had nothing to fight for except for her disgustingly strong will to survive. Once she’d wanted at will to just let her go. To brace the darkness forever. Back when she’d watched him die. It hadn’t matter it was her diseased mind plaguing her. She had watched his blood spill and then not minutes later seen the wreckage of his car. Her chest threatened to cave in on itself with the added pain.
The vibrations of a purr shook her impossibly tight chest. How could her heart still beat in a space that was too small? Her vision cleared for a brief moment, and among the stalks of grass waving in the wind, his goofy smiling face grinned at her. Her eyes closed slowly. Shin. He was what she fought for now. And she’d be damned if she went down like a little whimpering bitch.
SHE. COULDN’T. BREATHE.
Her eyes snapped open. White sclera flaked away, inky darkness bleeding into the pale area. Pupils expanded, chasing away the pale blue irises until black dominated the now oval pools. Her heart hammered, the pace quickening to a lightning fast pulse. Her chest grew even tighter. The girl threw her head back, a shriek escaping her lips. She screamed until her throat bled, if only to control the raw agony ripping her body to shreds.
Her mind went dark.
And from the shattered pieces of the broken girl rose a small figure. Light glistened off the glossy lime feathers, the sapphire primaries of the bird’s wings flashing like a beacon in the night. The bird lifted in flight, wobbly at first, weak, but instinct grasped the terrified creature and carried her away, towards the safe haven that awaited her far away in the form of her guardian angel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The bird had no thoughts other than to flee. Just keep flying. There were no human thoughts within the tiny creature as it wobbled about it flight pattern. But deep within the recesses of its mind, there was an image of a boy, with ashen blond locks and a laughing smile. It was a smile that promised safety and so, that image carried the dying bird to the window of the angel that very image belonged to. Deep within the dark confines of the creature’s mind, a young woman stirred. The bird fluttered through the, miraculously, open window just in time. In the span of a second, the bird’s form disappeared, leaving the broken, marred, and bloody figure of Shiori standing. Her vision was black, but she could sense him close by. As her crippled legs collapsed under her, as her mind faded to the world of unconsciousness once more, his name left her bloody lips. ”…Shin…”

Dark twisted fantasy
He was starving in more ways than one. While they provided him with more than enough lionesses, they weren't as helpful in the actual food department. A little morsel like this would be more than welcome! Ah, the inconveniences of orders. While her thin shoulder was in his jaws, he wanted to do more than tease and play. Jaime wanted to crunch down hard and feel the snap of a frail collar bone, the spurt of blood in his mouth.
This little victim was just delectable. He could taste her fear. The sound of her haplessly beating heart was music to his ears. Her pain was a banquet to his starved senses. Such pain had been kept away from him since that little shit in the alley and he'd hungered for it ever sense that stupid kid got away. He'd reached his just desserts, Jaime had heard. Murdered by his own folks. A shame. The lion likely would have made it a shorter death.
Maybe not.
Even as he was preparing to violate her in every way possible, he felt his grip falling way. The hell?
His paws were no longer wrapped around flesh, but laying against the ground with his claws set against his own chest. With empty jaws, he lifted his head with a ferocious snarl. Out from his mane flew a small green bird. Shit! She was flying unsteadily, but already quite high by the time he got to his thick paws. His lips curled up with fury before he leaped vertically into the air, those claws reaching out to capture her once more. While he'd jumped twelve feet into the air, the lion had only just barely been able to skim her tail feathers. Landing heavily, his mass trembling with the force of it, Jaime let loose a mighty roar. Another mission fucked. This wouldn't look good on the reports... [/blockquote] Turned to reality

Shin lay against his bed, his guitar propped up slightly as he plucked a few more strings, humming the tune in his head before frowning and erasing a few notes he'd added to the music sheet in front of him, reworking the part of the song he was stuck on. It was a song he'd heard on the radio a few weeks ago, and he was finally determined to figure out the cords for it. Of course, he had to do it by memory, because he couldn't remember the words of the song and had no way to look up any existing cords. But it gave him something to do while he waited for Shiori to call him about when she had the doctor's appointment. The soft sounds of nature drifted in through the open window, mixing their sounds with the sounds in his head until he finally sighed and shoved the instrument and music sheet away. He'd figure it out later. With a sigh, he stood, stretching before the soft flutter of wings startled him, turning to see a small green and blue colored bird fly through his open window. He barely had a chance to look shocked before the bird disappeared, replacing itself with the form of a much more familiar individual. Shiori. Bloodied, broken, and clearly not at al alright. " FUCK!" He growled, rushing to her side as she collapsed, barely saying his name before she was out cold. His eyes where wide as he tugged her to him, swinging her up in his arms and moving her to his bed, eyes wide in fear as he looked her over, trying to decide if this was bad enough to take her to the hospital. At the sight of her leg though, he knew not to risk it, and with a soft shuffle of resettling her in his arms, he flew out of the room, through the window, and towards the hospital, his angry glare, and a stack of fifty dollar bills earning her immediate access for treatment, as well as him gaining permission to stay close to her. He had no idea what happened, but who ever did this . . . he would pay. Thoughts "Words" Dictionary-- here words ### | tagged; name | complete | outfit |

It didn’t take long for the nurses in the emergency room to figure out exactly who this patient was. Nor did it take long for Shiori’s personal doctor to show, bewildered that she was back after he had just seen her not barely two hours ago. While Shin was allowed to stay close, the doctors and nurses bustled about to fast and he was forced to stand a corner of the room. The nurses rattled off symptoms and ailments. Massive blood loss, lacerations covering nearly sixty percent of her body. Her leg, shredded. A near by nurse was beginning to examine the few small lacerations on her bad leg, when the doctor stopped her, mentioning the leg had been examined already early the day.
A nurse working on setting an IV drip into Shiori’s pale arm glanced up at Shin and then motioned the doctor closer, murmuring to him. She turned her body so Shin couldn’t notice, but pointed out the faint scar on the girl’s wrist. The doctor shook his head, glaring at the nurse. ’This is clearly an animal attack. It fits the previous ones brought in.’
A few hours passed before the doctor deemed Shiori stable enough to move to a private room in the ICU. The doctor pulled the boy aside and ran a hand through his hair. He turned his attention to the girl within the room as a nurse adjusted the IV and blood bags hanging beside the bed and double checked the bandages that covered nearly every part of her. Her right wrist was bound tightly in a temporary splint. ’Shin right? The best we can do now is to tend to her other lacerations. You reacted fast, most of her wounds shouldn’t scar too bad. But that’s not what I want to talk to you about. She needs surgery. The muscles in her left leg are hamburger meat and her wrist was broken badly, but she’s too unstable right now. We’re hoping we can go in within 12 hours to repair the damage and possibly do some skin grafts on her large lacerations. Part of me wishes that beast had tackled her already injured leg. I could have fixed the new and old damage that way without her guardians saying a damn thing about it.’

Shin couldn't help but fidget in his corner, breathing heavily as he fought to keep from going into full panic mode. Each ailment, and every symptom seemed to only add to his concern. How the hell was she suppose to survive this. . . it seemed helpless now. He didn't even grit his teeth at the comment of Shiori having already come by to have her leg looked over today. Damn it! What if this was his fault? He should have been there. He should have been able to protect her. He was in an absolute panic as he stood in his corner before finally, hours later his girl was finally stable enough to move into a private room in ICU. Though, as he was going to follow her inside, the doctor pulled him inside, Shin right? Shin nodded quietly, his gaze glancing constantly to Shiori, The best we can do now is to tend to her other lacerations. You reacted fast, most of her wounds shouldn't scar too bad. But that's not what I want to talk to you about. She needs surgery. The muscles in her left leg are hamburger meat and her wrist is broken badly, but she's too unstable right now. We're hoping we can go in within 12 hours to repair the damage and possibly do some skin grafts on her large lacerations. Part of me wishes that beast had tackled her already injured leg. I could have fixed the new and old damage that way with out her guardians saying a damn thing about it. Shin's gaze was hard as he turned to the doctor, "What ever it takes, make her well again. If her guardians say a thing, send the bill to me. I beg of you. Just make her well again. |
" Was all the angel said, ruffling his wings close to his spine as he turned from the doctor and walked towards the girl in the bed, sitting on the chair beside it as he took her hand, his gaze worried. The doctor was slightly surprised by the young man’s hard gaze. He’d often had small chat with his long-term patient, so Shiori had mentioned her boyfriend once or twice. The middle-aged man gave a sigh as he ran a hand through his brown locks. He followed Shin into the room and waved the nurse off, watching Shin as he held the pale auburn’s hand. He didn’t want to intrude on a private matter, but if Shin was serious about the surgery, it needed to be addressed now. ’She’ll live. I can assure you that,’ |
[/s] he said quietly. ’I don’t know what she has shared with you about her leg, but the damage is to the nerves themselves. The surgery will require the removal of any dead nerves and the parts that are damaged to promote nerve regeneration. The surgery itself is experimental and has not be performed with 100% success on a human yet; there is no guarantee it will work. She may gain some motor function back. She may even lose some.’ Cain looked up at the monitors surrounding them. ’And that’s not the end of it. The recovery is long, tedious, and painful. We both know Shiori. She has a history of botching her meds, of flaking off and sinking into depression pits that last for weeks. Before you knew her, before she was allowed to attend Cry Wolf High, she was classified as a hazard to herself and those around her. If you decide to go through with the surgery, you will have to take full responsibility of her. She cannot herself. She will need to be watched at all times and as her personal doctor for years now, I cannot allow her to be put back in a psych ward even if other would say it the best course available.’ Amount: 304 Notes: he needed a name so I could stop calling him ‘the doctor’ xD Muse: okay! Shin stared at the man, his breath coming as evenly as he could, even as he demanded the surgeries take place before finally moving into the room where his girlfriend lay on a bed. He sat quietly as he took Shi's hand. glancing back up at the doctor when he spoke, "She's explained . . . some of it. Not . . . as much as I'd like her to have. |
" He admitted, listening and nodding as the doctor explained the procedure involved, not liking that the surgery was experimental, but desperate to see his Sparrow get well again. " I just want her better, doctor. To see her laugh in delight, and be able to dance again. To see her have the strength in herself. What ever it takes, I'll be there with her through it all. I'd not let her go alone on this . . . if it means I take full responsibility, then so be it . . . I'm more worried about whether she'd even speak to me about discussng all this with you. She won't be happy if she knew I'd offered to pay for the surgery. Not even remotely." He admitted quietly, looking down at his girlfriend and sighing, his wings laying aloof against his back, " She misses it, you know. Not just the dancing either. But the flying. She misses it all. I just want to be able to help give it back to her." His commitment to Shiori went much farther than most could imagine, but one thing was true. He'd always be by her side to help her through it all. Thoughts "Words" Dictionary-- here [/div] words ### | tagged; name | complete | outfit

Cain gave the boy a veiled sympathetic look. Part of him could relate to his position, he’d been devoted entirely to his high school crush. For him, it had come back to bite him in the ass, but watching this boy’s expressions, he knew it wasn’t some simple crush. He hoped that Shiori wouldn’t run away like she had been her whole life from this. Cain looked down at Shiori’s chart, flipping back to her original documents from years ago when she was first admitted. ’The crash caused severe damage to her whole leg, but the area that needed immediate intervention was her hip. She’d probably be completely cripple if they hadn’t taken care of that first. But the funds ran out before they could correct the damage around her knee. When she was transferred here, I did a pro-bono surgery for damage control for her. She appeared to be on the mend, everything looked okay and I was confident that with aggressive therapy, she could get full normal function back. We don’t really know what went wrong, but I suspect her lapse in recovery is partly due to her shutting off her shifter form. She hasn’t shifted in years and she informed me recently that she’d lost the very last of her miniscule shifting abilities. My guess is that any recovery she made in her human form went to keeping her avian form existing.’
Cain moved to her crippled leg, drawing the covers aside to look at the grotesque marred skin, atrophied muscles, and puckered scars. He gave the immediate area below her knee a gentle tap with his pin. No kick reflex was seen, not even the flutter of muscles. ’Her nerves have died and the dead tissue spread over the years, like a poison. Her muscles deteriorated despite our electric magnetic therapy to simulate nerve impulses and keep the muscles alive. In a way, you could say her body was finally giving in to her unwilling nature to go on. She has no one, both her parents were only childs, and her mother’s side of the family cut ties with her once Sakuya was married off. All of her paternal relatives have passed. She only has Heero, and she’s pushed him far out of her life. ’ The young doctor covered her leg back up after checking the bandages that covered her other leg. ’I’ve known her for quite some time. Every time her routine exam came along, I held my breath, expecting her to not show. She had begun to come increasingly late to each check up. That all changed a few months ago. She started showing up on time, early even, and she held conversation with me willingly. She even initiated any talk. Almost everything that comes from her mouth involves you. I’ve seen a phenominal change in her since you walked into her life. Did you know she’s been off her medications for two weeks now?’
Cain walked around to check the monitors once more, wrote down her vitals, and closed his clipboard. ’She's beginning to stabilize. Good, the more stable she is, the safer the surgery will be. You are not her family in the eyes of the law, so you have no real say over her care. But I’ve been on her case for two years, and I’d be lying if I’d say I wasn’t attached. I know a way we can sneak around those sneaky cooperate bastards. I can list you as next of kin, I have the paperwork in my office. If you are willing to take full responsibility of her, I can release her into your care. She’d be out of reach of the company board until her final mental evaluation.’

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: cad3db; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]wretched, look at me, i've lost it melting on the table, in parking lots and markets. Shin stared at the girl laying in bed, running a hand through his too-long blonde hair. He was beyond concerned about Shiori, hell he was more than just concerned. He was pissed, he was worried, and he just wanted her to be okay already. TO be one hundred percent kay. He listened as the dog explained the situation on her leg, slowly sinking into the chair as he watched her, "But she has her avian form back, I've seen it myself. SHe came to my window once. Will that mean she'll start getting better now, for real? |
" He asked hopefully, tearing his gaze from the girl to look up at the doctor, watching him tap the area below the knee, not a single reaction seen, and the man felt his heart drop, listening as the doctor explained the dead nerves, the tissues that had spread. When the topic came that he'd given up hope, Shin closed his eyes, hanging his head slightly before looking up at the mention of her change, his mouth dropping open in surprise at the doctor's next words. He'd helped? How on earth was that even possible. " Two weeks?" He breathed in surprise, a faint prideful smile touching his lips. It wasn't until the final suggestion that he froze, thinking for a moment. full responsibility? He couldn't see this ending well. But, if it meant being able to help her . . . . " Can I think about it? She'd kill me if she woke up and found I'd agreed to it . . . not saying that . . . that I wouldn't . . . I just, I couldn't bear it if we went through another rough patch like the one we just got out of . . . . She's too precious to me, I don't want to risk losing her. But, I want to help her too." He sighed, shaking his head in uncertainty. Thoughts "Words" Dictionary-- here [/div] words ### | tagged; name | complete | outfit
