Her eyes were half lidded as she leaned against the wall inside her private office. A few more minutes of rest before the kids would start to arrive, just a small handful of them. Two human children, a vampire, and a little fairie girl. Nothing to bad - this time around. She already had the day planned out. They'd start out here at the day care, get everything settled up and giving them their snacks. after they play outside on the play ground, and have had lunch, they would go to the zoo. Her little group and her. The first child's laughter was heard and she immediately opened her eyes, stepping out of her office with a vibrant smile, "Miss Whiskey!" The child shouted in delight, running to her and wrapping it's tiny arms around her in a warm hug. Whiskey laughed as she scooped the little human girl up in a hug, lightly kissed her forehead and greeted her with a playful, teasing smile, "Little miss Sasha! Are you excited for today?" She asked the girl who nodded happily, "We go to the zoo today!" the four year old shouted in joy.
Whiskey set the child down before turning to the mother who explained the girl's little brother (who was three) was ill and wouldn't be here today. Her small group got even smaller. With in the next hour the other two children arrived, and finally half the day had passed, and the children were eating lunch, the vampire boy drinking some blood, while the fae girl ate a peanut butter and honey sandwich. After everyone had eaten, Whiskey clapped her hands calling the kids to her. Instantly the children rushed towards her, waiting quietly, "We ready to go to the zoo? Remember the rules. Stay close to me. Don't talk to strangers. Domi, you are the oldest, so watch out for the two girls, okay?" She requested the six year old boy, who eagerly nodded, slipping his hand into the two girls' hand.
It was moments like that that proved that anyone can over come difference. The vampire boy was best friends with the human girl, and the fae child. Smiling she then led the kids to the zoo, paying for them all to get in. Domi and Sasha walked ahead, while Kita - the faerie - stayed close to her side, looking around with wide eyes. Whiskey smiled in reassurance as they wandered around, amused at the different reactions the children were giving, before noticing Domi and Sasha getting too far ahead. "Domi? Sasha? Wait for us." Domi half turned to call something back, only to run into the legs of a man in front of them.

Brayden sighed and ran a hand through his hair then pulled his ball cap down further over his face. They were at the zoo. Elaina had wanted to come to see the animals. He knew she liked the zoo, especially the lynx exhibit. He knew it was because she felt the pull from the lynx within her, but seeing the beautiful creatures made his heart ache. Plus, with his new record deal and his music being out on the market now, it was too easy for someone to recognize him and begin the swarm of people asking for autographs that was sure to follow. It was like a domino effect. While Brayden truly enjoyed making music, he wasn’t too fond of the flood of people swarming around him if he was ever spotted out in public. He wasn’t even a huge star. He didn’t know how the big time celebrities did it. But he loved his daughter and her wish was his command, so he had pulled his ball cap down low over his face and here they were.
Course, that didn’t mean he had to stand and look at the lynxes while Elaina swooned over them. He knew she was more than capable of taking care of herself. She had done that plus taken care of him when he hit rock bottom. So instead he settled with wandering around the zoo, keeping his head low and just taking quick peaks in at the different creatures. Of course, he was so occupied with keeping his head down that he didn’t notice the two youngsters heading straight for him. He had paused just long enough to gaze into the wolf exhibit when he felt something bounce off of his legs. He looked down to see a small boy falling back on his butt and a small girl watching him fall with wide eyes before turning them up to Bray. She sniffled a bit and took a few steps away from him. The small boy looked up at him with wet eyes. His father instinct kicked in and Brayden crouched down before the two children. ”Hey, hey. It’s alright. Don’t cry, little guy. Here.” Brayden offered the boy a hand a pulled him to his feet, giving him a warm smile. ”See? No harm done. Now, where are your parents?” he asked, looking around and spotting a brown haired woman with another small child hurrying towards them. He stood, forgetting himself and pushing his hat back a bit, his smile faltering as it always did around grown women anymore. ”Hello, do these two belong to you?”

Whiskey knew she should have kept closer eyes on Domi and Sasha, making sure they didn't run off. But by the time she had noticed them, it was too late, and they had successfully ran into someone. As she watched Domi fall back, and Sasha look visibly upset, she immediately made her way forward. Kita kept hold of her hand while she and the fae child quickly moved forward, "Domi, Sasha, are you too alright? I said to stay close." She immediately turned her gaze towards the male - even while keeping a careful distance from him, "I apologize, I hope they haven't bothered you. Relatively speaking, yes, they are mine. My name is Marie De`Claur, I run a day care in town . . . we're out of a field trip," She explained simply, her gaze drifting back to the human girl and the vampire boy. As much as she would love to one day be able to claim a child of her own - she had an unnatural love of children that likely came from her other forms (one being a red wolf, the other a dog), but the man who'd kept her as his pet dog for a few years (becaus she had refused to date him) had had her spayed, adding insult to injury. She looked at Domi and Sasha, using her 'mom' voice, as one of the kids had once referred to it as, "Now, tell the nice man you're sorry for running into him." The two children mumbled their apologies, looking down at their feet, as Kita watched in silence from her spot next to her. Miss Whiskey. Do we get Ice cream still? Even though Domi and Sasha were bad? Whiskey huffed gently at Kita, "They were not bad, Kita . . . . they just made a mistake. Of course you three still get ice cream." She soothed the new distraught children before looking up at the man, her expression guarded, "I'm sorry, we're probably holding you up . . . ." She said politely, a faint, kind smile on her face, "And I should probably let these three go get ice cream before they start tearing up on me. I apologize again for the children running into you . . . I'll be sure to definitely keep a closer eye on them now."

Brayden watched with guarded eyes as the woman quickly gathered the children and apologized for them, announcing herself as Marie. His eyes glanced down at the small children beside her, thinking of the days when Elaina used to be that small. It didn’t seem that long ago to him. Now, tell the nice man you’re sorry for running into him. As the children mumbled apologies he grinned and listened to the shyest of the group quip up about still getting ice cream. I’m sorry, we’re probably holding you up. . . . ”Oh no, no! Actually, I brought my daughter her and I’ll probably be aimlessly wandering for the next three hours or so while she stares at the animals.” He turned his gaze on the kids and crouched down. He missed taking Elaina for ice cream when she was little. Now she was too busy cleaning the house and doing school work. She hadn’t held a job since his career had taken off, which he was so glad for. She had time to be a real teenage now, but she didn’t really take the opportunity. It seemed she preferred to be alone or to be with animals. Sometimes it worried him and other times he just accepted that it was how she was. ”Ice cream, huh? Mind if I tag along? I’ll buy you the biggest ice cream they have there.” He watched the children’s eyes light up. He had directed the question at the children for a reason, he knew Marie would reject his offer, however the kids would plead for his sake. He needed adult interaction and he didn’t consider screaming fan girls or people asking him for autographs interaction. He considered that insanity. It was the only bad part of his job, but Marie didn’t seem to know who he was so he turned his gaze back to her’s. ”I’m Brayden, by the way. Brayden Gray.”

Whiskey wasn't the sort to like being around others - especially unfamiliar males. But that was just a lingering reaction to happenings in her past. But right now, she was incharge of these three precious children, and the mere thought to any of them getting in trouble, or hurt, upset her. So she was very careful, giving the most basic information, and hoping she'd be able to escape quickly. Of course, the male spoke again, declaring that they weren't holding him up, keeping him from anything - and cutting her exit short. He spoke of a daughter staring at animals, while he'd be left to wander aimlessly about, before he suddenly turned towards the children, crouching in front of them, as he asked about the ice cream, asking the children if he could tag along, promising to buy the biggest ice cream for them.
[/i] Of course, she didn't have a chance to dismiss his offer before the children were squealing and nodding in excitement, the little girl clutching her hand staring at the male with stars in her eyes at the thought of having the biggest ice cream she'd probably ever be given. Getting them down for their naps later was going to be one heck of a mission. Sighing, she glanced at the man, as he looked back at her, being careful not to catch his gaze as he introduced himself as Brayden Gray. The name sounded a tinge familiar, but not enough so, so she could place it. With a sigh she ran a hand through her thick hair, " Nice to meet you, Mr. Gray. I suppose we should get these children to the ice cream parlor . . . . Though, I beg of you . . . . let's not get them the biggest ice cream they serve. I'm the one who has to deal with them until their parents pick them up later tonight, and they're a handful with out sugar rushes." She said in exasperation, though the fond smile she directed towards the children denied her words, smiling as she squeezed the little girl's hand and began to walk towards the ice cream parlor again, with out a second glance at the man, still not sure what to make of him, or his sudden appearance, and lack of disappearance. His ploy had worked and he grinned at Marie as she accepted his offer- if not a bit unwillingly. He nodded as she spoke about the size, knowing full well what happened when kids were on sugar rushes, even if he didn’t look like it. He pulled out his phone to check it and found nothing from Elaina yet, so he was definitely good for time. As she turned and started towards the ice cream stand with the kids in tow, he fell in step behind them, searching for a way to start some small talk. ”So, you run a daycare, huh? I bet that gets exhausting sometimes. Especially with such special children you’re keeping watch over.” His eyes glittered with excitement. As they had begun walking towards the ice cream stand, he had caught the scent of something that was definitely not human. It made him even more excited. Adult conversation AND they were fellow non-humans. As they approached the stand he did a quick surveillance, finding none of the kind that stood out as being potential fans of his, but he knew this didn’t mean he was safe. He knew just as well that a good portion of his fans didn’t even have the color black in their wardrobe, so he still had to be careful.
He walked up to the window and ordered himself a cone of coffee flavored ice cream, noticing that the person taking his order was a male who’s eyes lingered on Brayden’s face for just a fraction of a second too long. Oh no… he thought, but he quickly side stepped and grinned down at the children, pulling out his wallet. He knew he had enough to probably buy the ice cream stand, but he plastered a fake frown on his face as he looked in his wallet. ”Drat. Well, it looks like I only have enough for everyone to get only a cone of ice cream.” He glanced up at the moans of disappointment, covering his grin. ”Oh, I know, but maybe there will be another chance to buy the biggest ice cream ever.” His eyes flicked up to Marie’s face, taking note of the brown hair and the brown eyes that brought to mind an image of another face, but he blinked away and smiled slightly at Marie, hoping for her approval.

Whiskey couldn't help but frown at the man's grin - especially knowing it was caused by her being unable to fally his ploy. So, she couldn't deny her favorite brats, didn't mean that she was glad to have run into him. She ran a slightly agitated hand through her hair, the loose waves bouncing in a way to betray the natural curls that the humidity had loosened up, before walking past him, glancing back when he spoke. She shrugged lightly, looking down at the kids, "It's not so bad, actually. I don't usually get more then ten kids a day, and for the most part their well behaved." She explained, lightly swinging Kita up into her arms, carrying the small faerie on her hip to tug Sasha closer when the other two went to skip ahead again, "Domi, Sasha, if you two start running off again you'll not be allowed to come on our next trip into the city." She warned, before glancing back at him, "It can be a challenge at times, especially because I'm open to the supernatural, and human kind alike . . . but it's also rewarding, being able to see the children get along despite differences. You can't help but hope the adults might one day follow their lead." Sasha took that moment to glance back with a dimpled smile, "My fwiends awe jealous I is fwiends with a vampiwe! But Domi is my best fwiend." The vampire boy nodded in agreement, singing his and Sasha's joined hands, adding in his own opinion, "We'll be friends forever!" He agreed, causing Sasha to giggle, and add, "An' one day we'll get may-weed!" Which resorted into the vampire squealing, and declaring, "Nooo, girls have cooties!" A smile turned up Whiskey's features, as she watched their antics, walking into the ice cream shop, watching him order a cone for himself, before noticing the fake frown on his features, and giving him a very brief smile of relief when he mentioned only purchasing a cone each. She looked down at the kids, "Domi and Sasha will want Chocolate. Kita, Strawberry or Vanilla?" The young faerie looked up thoughtfully, "Strawberry please, Ms. Whiskey." The child stated quietly before laying her head down on Whiskey's shoulder, "And Strawberry for Kita." She said, choosing not to respond to buying them the biggest ice creams ever some other time.
